On a recent trip to Galveston with friends who visit the Island regularly, we stopped at Mosquito Cafe for breakfast per their recommendation. So glad we did. Typically, ordering at a counter leaves me wanting more from my dining experience, but not so here. The counter service was friendly and organized. After ordering, get a table number. Expect it to be packed on a weekend. We went on a Wednesday morning.
We arrived at 10:55 and were able to order breakfast, which is served until 11 am. My friends who knew the cafe well, ordered The Nancy BET-C, eggs benedict on a toasted croissant. My other traveling companion and I both ordered the Shrimp, Grits & Eggs, which was perfectly seasoned and cooked shrimp with cheese grits and sauteed spinach, served with parmesan toast.
The breakfast menu is sure to please even the pickiest eater.
For lunch or dinner, Mosquito Cafe offers soups, salads, pasta, tacos, a large selection of sandwiches, creative burgers, and there are "Fabulous Chalkboard Specials" every day.
Venture across the street for dessert from Pattycakes Bakery. I took home pull-apart Bafka sweet rolls. There were also coconut macaroons, plain and half-dipped in chocolate. Pick up a small package of dog bone snacks for Fido.
