Unreal place- remote ,quiet ,no TV -BLISS.
The food is excellent but don't expect fine dining, just good food made with most produce either grown ,reared or caught around the Island. Beer is cold and the views of the surrounding Islands wonderful.
Unfortunately its not open as such but if you want to experience the island and some of the best fishing in the world with Daucina Charters then go.

I suggest that anyone considering to book accommodation at this resort TAKE CARE DONT DO IT. I made & pre paid for accommodation for this Resort in May 2018 for our reservation in July 2018.. We were then told x 24 hours prior to our arrival date in July that the Resort was closed because of the Island generator had failed !!
WE HAVE NOT BEEN PAID OUR REFUND... THEY CONTINUE TO IGNORE MY REQUESTS FOR THE REFUND ....BE CAREFUL .. CHECK ALL ASPECTS
There are Fourth World Countries out there. By western standards they don't have much, BUT, they are very happy with their lot!
Here we have a small local community of some 100 souls. employed by an Australian Resort Manager to live their lives in the way they have traditionally existed. They are friendly & helpful in the maintenance of their island home.
Doini is a tropical Paradise a short flight by light plane from Alotau which can be accessed by air from port Moresby.
There are 6 self contained cabins fronting Milne Bay, plus a Commun al area serving as restaurant, bar, shops & entertainment lounge
We were blessed to have this Island as a day stop on our Princess Cruise, the waters that surround this island are clear and the different shades of blue complement the white sands and the green palms that swayed in a gentle breeze. The ship anchored out in deep water and the outrigger canoes came out from the shore to welcome us. The tenders were used to carry us back and forth as we arrived at the jetty a welcome sign greeted us into a open area where music was playing with the local band and refreshments could be purchased and eaten at the table and chairs whilst listening to the band. They had a local shop selling souveniers t.shirts, magnets, caps etc. as you made your way out to the beach is where you will find the accommodation huts right on the shore line so beautiful. Here you can swim in the warm waters or take a canoe ride out across the reef to snorkel. For a small amount of kina the young lads will take you out and back, this way it saves the coral from being damaged. You can while away the hours lazing on the beach or take a walk to the markets where village people are selling their carvings and baskets etc. There is dancing from the local schools and the children displaying there dance moves, with spears and whistles blowing and drums beating.Quite entertaining. This island is privately owned and they have done a lot for the island people with work. Fishing is also very big here.
Princess cruise had stop over for the day,after a delightful work around and taking in the culture,buy gifts,it is so pristine,very friendly,beautiful cabins right on foreshore,what away to wake up with a view to take your breath away.

As we came ashore, we walked past school groups with young kids dressed up doing there native dances, war paint & spears, very theatrical. There was about 5 or 6 schools trying to raise money for their education, mixed with religious groups also asking for donations. We went on through the natives selling their trinkets, all hoping to make some money to exist. There was no pressure to donate or buy. We made our way over to the beach which was a beautiful place to spend the rest of the day.
