Princess cruise had stop over for the day,after a delightful work around and taking in the culture,buy gifts,it is so pristine,very friendly,beautiful cabins right on foreshore,what away to wake up with a view to take your breath away.

As we came ashore, we walked past school groups with young kids dressed up doing there native dances, war paint & spears, very theatrical. There was about 5 or 6 schools trying to raise money for their education, mixed with religious groups also asking for donations. We went on through the natives selling their trinkets, all hoping to make some money to exist. There was no pressure to donate or buy. We made our way over to the beach which was a beautiful place to spend the rest of the day.
We visit this resort during a P&O cruise, it was a beautiful spot to spend a day on a tropical beach and be entertained by the locals with song and dance.
We did the skull cave walk, the locals have no knowledge of distance so many hours later we had done a full walking tour of the island, no an easy walk for the unfit.
The resort drink prices are what you would expect for a remote island but worth the culture experience. I would love to stay in a cabin on the beach on a return trip.
I was more than surprised by how pristine and beautiful this island turned out to be...I visited it on a recommendation of a friend who'd been to Doini Island and Tuwali and I was trying to choose between the two. She recommended it based on the fact that it has sandy beaches which Tuwali does not. Both apparently cater to divers - I wasn't interested in diving on this occasion...just a nice get away for a rest and some relaxation. You get this in spades at the island.
After a reasonably rough trip across the bay which took 2 1/2 hours due to bad weather we arrived at the restort...its ideallic! Our beach bunglow was spacious and clean...and a/c to meet my needs for a peacful night's sleep.
The meals are catered by the resort - the choices for each course are set by the staff and seemingly based on what might be available at the time. We had delicious fresh fish and chips for lunch on our arrival...the best fish I've tasted in a very long time.
If you are looking for rest, some recreation (like snorkelling, swimming, sunbaking, reading and exploring the island) then this is the place for you.
Our ride back to Alotau was smooth and like travelling on glass...it took us under one hour to return to the mainland.
I didn't find the experience that expensive and would certainly recommend this place to anyone. I'm also very determined to come back...for a longer period.
Doini Island is a privately-owned island, within Papau New Guinea. Both are unique experiences for Americans. The facilities are simple, and the beach is quiet and natural. The local people are there to sell the tourists their local crafts, while their children have fun swimming and boating on the beach. It's definitely worth the visit if the opportunity arises.
We stopped at Doini Island as our last port on a PNG cruise. They definitely saved the best till last as we set foot on this tropical wonderland! Beautiful white sand beaches with water so clear that snorkeling equipment wasn't even needed, places to purchase food and drink and souvenirs, wonderful local people to welcome us and show us their locally produced goods, what more could a girl need??!! There were chalets lined along the beach which I presume you could stay overnight - would love to go back and stay a while!
