This is the second time I have stayed at Warburton Lodge. Both times because I did the Railtrail from Lillydale with friends; an overnight stop. This time we stayed in rooms at the back of the property. Unless I had enough friends to book all the little cabins I wouldn’t stay in these rooms again. There is no soundproofing (making eavesdropping impossible to avoid) and any movement in one room reverberates through the whole lot. I would also strongly suggest to management to update the bedcovers and in the colder months give guests extra blankets (we did get some as soon as we asked but little things can make even the smallest and plainest of rooms feel brighter). On the plus side the room was very clean, towels were new and fluffy. Hot water pressure in the shower was great and the little heater worked a treat making the room feel cosy. However there are no toiletries provided - only soap. So make sure you bring shampoo/conditioner and shower gel etc... I guess you have the picture. It’s a charming old place. The library, billiards room and lounge are a step back in time. But nothing has been updated. So - Get the rooms in The main building (upstairs) unless you’re a big group. Don’t expect much. It’s quiet. And a reasonable overnight stop.

The rooms are a throwback to the 1940s. Family room was very dark. On a positive note the rooms are clean and have everything you need, towels, soap, tea, coffee and tv. They accept small dogs which was a big bonus for us and the family room has actually two bedrooms so parents have some privacy. So if you are not too fussy, ignore the decor and use this as a base for the rail trail, this hotel is cheap and adequate. It grows on you !

Charming place. Check-in was quick, easy and efficient. Bedrooms are comfortable, with tea, coffee and a toaster provided. The decor of the lounge is beautiful - old world modest grandeur. Heaps of books available to read, a free pool table, a piano, chessboards, shaded outdoor seating, and tennis courts for your pleasure. We would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely visit again.
