Owner description: Brown Brothers Milawa Cellar Door is the nerve centre of new ideas and experimentation within Brown Brothers winery and is the perfect environment for tasting new varieties and wine styles. We grow many varieties of grapes and have an experimental research winery, the Kindergarten, where we produce wines of high quality, but in quantities too small to make available for general release. These are released under the Cellar Door label and are available nowhere else. The range includes limited releases of new varietals, experimental batches and aged wines. Adjacent to the Cellar Door at Milawa, Patricia's Table is a restaurant where you can enjoy a la carte dishes created with local produce to complement Brown Brothers wines. The restaurant has been awarded one star in the Australian Gourmet Traveller 2013 Restaurant Awards and rated 14.5 Out of 20 by The Age Good Food Guide 2013. We also have a relaxed food and wine venue This relaxed environment also provides a space where visitors can spend few hours grazing the menu and working through wine flights and back-vintage tastings.

We came to have lunch in the restaurant one busy Sunday. It was spacious and warm in the dining room and the meals came in a 2 or 3 course bundle. We were greeted by very friendly wait staff and allowed time to select our courses and wines. We chose not to go with the suggested wine to meal listings as some of our party had to drive to Melb afterward, however, we did order a bottle and that was fine too. I ordered a cheese soufle as an entree and it was superb. The men on the table ordered heavy steak and duck dishes which looked and tasted yum. Desserts looked great too, although I was too full to eat them. The day while bright was cool outside, but there were loads of families with children eating outside under cover, the children ensconced in the playground. Others were dotted around on the lawn on bean bags or playing oversized chess. A great place to come, with different things to do and price points for all.

We're not connoisseurs of wine - we just know what we like. We were able to try several different wines and came home with some that we know we'll enjoy

Great menu, the best food at a restaurant in years. Uses local produce, fabulously cooked and matched with wines. Lovely surrounds, we were watching native parrots through the windows. Good service too. Highly recommend this for a special gourmet meal. Not cheap, but well worth it.

We were staying at Beechworth and drove out to Milawa to visit this and the Cheese company.

The winery location is lovely, they have a restaurant there (which we didn't try), bean bags out on the grass for you to relax in and they even had the barn area done up for a wedding (which looked amazing!).

Inside the tasting area along with the wines they had some jams to taste. The strawberry and moscato jam was super delicious (i may have purchased a few for gifts and me).

The wine tasting area was very busy and at times hard to get service, but once the crowd thinned a little it was much easier and i got to try all of the wines that i wanted to.

Definitely worth a visit.

We had an amazing lunch, with matched wines at Patricia's Table restaurant at Brown Brothers winery. We tried the wines beforehand at the cellar door (recommended) then enjoyed truly brilliant food matched to the winter weather and featuring liical seasonal produce.

A fantastic family lunch!
