Description: Old world charm with new world style, this classic country hotel is at the heart of the Yarra Valley. We are now offering great food, seven days of the week using the best of the season and region. Choose from a selection of smaller snacks and tastes to nibble on with your glass of local wine... Next, let us carve some of our famous K&B charcuterie; Italian parma ham, bresaola, Spanish salamis, and our house made pork, veal and pistachio terrine... served with crusty bread, little pickled vegetables and caper berries. Our kitchen are slow cooking local lamb shoulders for 12 hours... and roasting local Berkshire pork belly. Finish with Sophie's selection of perfectly ripened cheeses, hand picked from our copper cheese cabinet in our providore, Kitchen & Butcher. Our new menu also features hearty classic 'pub style' dishes to satisfy the hungriest diner.

The food and service here are very good. Great beers and ciders on tap. The fish and chips were fantastic, generous serves, crisp beer batter, with beautiful fish. A choice of eating in the restaurant, bar or the garden. A great way to finish your visit to the Wildlife Sanctuary.

This was a special luncheon with a group of about 70. It looked very nicely set out although the chairs were pretty close together-but maybe wouldn't have fitted us all in otherwise! the entrees & main courses were served in a buffet style, which meant that for approx every 4 people there was enough to taste each dish. Crusty salmon & lamb shoulder were beautiful, tender, well cooked & with a variety of side dishes. Dessert was strawberries & chocolate mousse. Spread over a few hours! it was all very enjoyable. Down side?? Very humid day, ceiling fans had to be turned up but still a little uncomfortable so an aircon would be a good investment. I usually enjoy a wine but too warm to enjoy one-for me anyway.

We called in on a Friday arvo for a wine and a snack. Out in the beer garden we enjoyed a lovely red from "Sticks" and an Indian Pale Ale.
We decided to try their "Happy Hour" grill.
The "Lamb Kofta" was superb!

Such a nice place to spend a couple of hours!

The Healesville Hotel has attractive old world decor, an extensive largely meat orientated menu and reasonable service.

A complementary starter was a welcome surprise and our shared starters were tasty, especially the olives but so was the smoked trout and the sweet potato dip.

Four of our party of five shared two shared main meals. One was the lamb shoulder dish which was slow cooked in a Mediterranean style. The other was a whole duck cooked in an Asian style. The fifth member of our party had the pork belly. All serves were large, had one tasty vegetable but were seriously meat orientated and comparatively light on vegetables.

Desserts were unnecessary but we indulged nonetheless and they too were large serves. I shared a pavlova with blood plums and rhubarb. The pavlova was, in fact, two mini marshmallow centered meringues with too sweet fruit and a scoop of ice cream which seemed to be homemade.

The local sparkling wine and Pinot noir we chose were good choices.

While the meal was certainly plentiful, I found it too much - too meaty (mains) and sweet (dessert) but the starters I found pleasing.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent dining experience.
We do admit that we love to showcase the meats sourced and aged in our K&B Butchery.
However in contrast to our Healesville Hotel menu, our Harvest Cafe next door specializes in offering delicious, fresh vegetarian/vegan foods for breakfast and lunch every day.
We hope to welcome you back soon!
