First time in this area and we were pleasantly surprised by the scenic outlook and friendly atmosphere. Late afternoon snack of the house pizzas (one of each) were tasty and fresh. Service was friendly as well. Recommend a visit.

Went to giant steps with a large group (13 friends) for a wine tasting. It was our first stop in our Yarra Valley wine-tasting tour.
The tasting itself was $10 each- pricey considering most other wineries are either free or charge $5 each for a tasting. We sampled 6 wines (2 whites- both Chardonnay, and 4 reds). All of the other wineries in the the region offered us between 7-10 samples.
On the bottom of the tasting menu (and on the Giant Steps website) it stated that your $10 tasting fee would be refundable with any purchase of wine. Some of the wines were nice and there were a few people in the group who were interested in purchasing some wine- until we were told that the $10 could not be refundable as we already prepaid our tasting (two days previous). We were told that it was not possible to refund the $10 as they only refund you if you pay for your tasting on the day. Absolutely ridiculous excuse, if this is the case- it should have been stated clearly on the menu.
All in all, disappointing tasting session- false advertising and poor selection of wines. There are many other nicer, cheaper and better quality wineries with larger selections in the region. Would certainly not recommend!

Hi Amy,
I’m not sure if you are aware but we managed to contact your friend who had made the booking to apologise for your experience. There was a definite lack of communication and clarity on our part, which was exacerbated by our handling of it on the day. We refunded all the tasting fees to your friend. Please accept our apologies to you personally. Kind regards , Ally.

Visit the Giant Steps wine tasting for a rich and tasty class featuring the vineyards best. Simon speaks the language of wine and hosted our "Tutored Masterclass". He can make you recognize tastes that most might overlook.

When was the last time you hear a syrah described as having "texture like a silk handkerchief"?

This is an up market restaurant. Prices are a bit heavy for families, but value for money. Food was very good, good service, facilities clean, could probably be a bit noisy during other times, maybe later in the day.

We go here at least once a year (we live in Adelaide) and have never been disappointed. The food has always been good but this weekend it was faultless. Even with the busy easter crush the service was reasonably quick but more importantly genuine and attentive. Just brilliant actually. We did three wine flights and it was no trouble even during the busiest of times. Our waiter remembered 9 different wines and all our food order in one go, quite an achievement. If you love pinot and chardonnay then this is the place to go. Do spend the time to do a proper tasting in the wine room. Again, attentive and genuine service, very friendly. Loved the latest single vineyard "wombat creek" pinot. Cracking! All the 17's are looking brilliant.
