Description: While dining at The Majestic Grille you might expect to see Myrna Loy & William Powell sitting at the bar, zinging witty one-liners at each other over ice-cold martinis. Originally built in 1913 as the Majestic No. 1, a silent picture house that entertained Memphians for three decades, the restaurant gives diners a glimpse of the heady Hollywood days of ol'. From the beautifully restored Beaux Arts décor to expertly prepared classic cocktails to warm, gracious service to Chef/Owner Patrick Reilly's award wining, yet remarkably comfortable food, you find yourself feeling transported to another time. Add to that the largest private movie screen in the city showing silent films & classic movies and you're center stage in an atmosphere that reclaims the cinematic glory of the dawn of the silver screen. Named Best Restaurant, Best Brunch and Best Chef, The Majestic Grille has won accolades in regional and national press. As a community gathering spot for the Arts, The Majestic Grille offers up a dining experience that delights all the senses! Whether sipping a mimosa at our 'Ultimate' Sunday Brunch, hosting a business dinner in a private room, or watching the trolley roll by on our beautiful patio, we invite you to join us for a special dining experience in our historic downtown location. We look forward to seeing you soon, Deni & Patrick Reilly

So great! Amazing service, delicious food. Felt very fancy and old-fashioned, (like Frank Sinatra might walk by) but food was anything but stodgy. Really a fantastic spot for a family -- we felt like it was an occasion, but food was accessible for our 13 and 11 year olds, and prices were good. Highly recommend.

We were drawn to the Majestic because of walking by the outside seating. Everyone's brunch looked good. Opted to dine inside, a really unique building where they played old movies on the wall. They bloody Mary's were wonderfully horseradishy. They bring you buttery biscuits to start. We got a side of gravy to enjoy with them. The artichoke Benedict was very yummy, an uncommon find. We left very stuffed at a reasonable price. The service was friendly.

The staff was very pleasant and acccomodating. Being from out of town we didn't realize the restaurant would be crowded so early since there was a show at the theater. However they seated us promptly. They food was very good but we mostly had a variety of appetizers. Would definitely go back. Loved the black and white movies projected on the wall.

Nice dining establishment downtown Memphis that plays a silent movie while you dine, however the large plant in the middle kind of blocks the view depending on where you are seated. The atmosphere, wait staff, and food were great.

We arrived here at 7:30pm hoping for an air conditioned table inside and were told there was a 1-1 1/2 hour wait but could sit outside right away, which we did. The chicken flat bread starter was very enjoyable. Followed by the hanger steak with added prawns, but no mushrooms, grilled tomato, onion rings or any other side.
Now the meal was nice but nothing spectacular, which got worse with the waitresses manners. I know her name but will not reveal it here. Basically she expected a 15-20% tip for “just about” doing her job, which was order a drink, meal and ONE glass of water each. We never had the water refilled, and was never asked if we required any more drinks. It must have been our English accent because there were two other tables occupied by US customers and they seemed to receive better service. One of the tables only ordered water and a main each!! Because we spent $100 then we are expected to leave a further $20, I don’t think so!
I’m not aiming my anger entirely at this restaurant, although this is the one that was the rudest.
For the waitress to blatantly shake her head at the tip we left is disgusting, and she did this TWICE whilst we were taking photos with this famous building afterwards.
The USA is one of the worlds wealthiest countries and it’s embarrassing to repeatedly see these restaurants basically begging for tips, and it seems to get worse each time we visit.

We’ve eaten in several third world countries, they can’t do enough for you and we have even had waiters/waitresses try and give us the equivalent of $2 tip BACK as they saw it as too much! And taxi drivers give us money back for OVERPAYING.

What some of these staff fail to realise is that we had a 10 night holiday and ate at a different place each night. Had we paid the “expected” tip in every place we would have needed and extra
$500, which is frankly ridiculous. Add to that the fact that our last visit to the US was £1.60 to $1 and now only £1.31 to $1, it is costing us considerably more. We have always left tips, everywhere, but to have someone shake their head at you for not leaving enough is a disgrace. She’s lucky I didn’t ask for the change leaving her with 0 tip. It is not our responsibility to pay everyone’s wages. I don’t get a 20% tip for doing my job.
