Owner description: Sun Studio - The place where an 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first song. It’s well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers. Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

Very interesting. Lots of old photos and memorabilia. Doesn't take too long. An hour to one and one half hours would do it. Lots of artists recorded from this studio and still go there when they are in town.

This is the place where the first Rock and Roll recording was done. This is the very place where the legends Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and others have actually recorded in the very position is being maintained for us to see. See the original studio, the mike used by Elvis the piano of Lewis, and other memorabilia. A short tour was organized by the enthusiastic guide who really brings the past alive. There are many things to see. A must visit for all those music lovers of the past.

What fun to learn about the early days of rock and roll and the artists and producers who made it all happen.

The Sun Studio tour takes you right back to the beginning, telling the story of Sam Phillips and the many stars who started their careers here - Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and so many blues singers. There is a museum upstairs and you also get to go to the studio (which is still used) where the magic happened. Our tour guide was fantastic, his knowledge and obvious love and passion were evident. He was very amusing and very happy to answer questions. There were plenty of photo opportunities and you could even hold the actual microphone used by Elvis!!
