I may be easily pleased but I found HdF a most relaxing and enjoyable hotel to stay in. Yes, it might be a tad pricey but my overall experience was good.
Staff - All staff I encountered were friendly and courteous. The servers at the Terrasse restaurant we’re happy to chat but we’re not intrusive.
Facilities - Our room had been refurbished recently and was comfortable and impeccably clean - we had two visits from the House Manager to check that it had been cleaned to his satisfaction. I watched him check the toilet and waste bins and scrutinies the room in general.
Shuttle Bus - Maybe this could run a little more often, but it is a much appreciated service as a taxi cost £7.50 one-way.
Restaurant - The dinner menu is a little restricted but provided more than enough choice for our seven day stay. A barbecue menu is available on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Breakfast is essentially DIY but there is plenty of choice with all cereals and grains available along with yoghurt and juices. I am puzzled why anyone would really want to pay extra for food prepared to order: Scrambled egg, sausage, bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms were available and no limit on how much one might wish to eat. Cold meat and cheese complement the hot food and pain au raisin and similar are set out too. I do agree with other reviewers that one sometimes had to queue for the DIY coffee and toast.
As I said at the outset, maybe I’m easily pleased, but I would certainly use this hotel again if visiting Jersey.
