Deadwood Dick's is a blast from the past with an eccentric flare. Settled up against a mountain, allowing the wildlife to wonder through for visitors to catch a glimpse of deer, elk and big horn sheep from the roof top patio. It is two short blocks walking distance to the Main Street of Deadwood, several casinos, bars. Mary and staff we very attentive, very nice making our stay perfect. Our king size suite was clean and the bed was so comfortable. We enjoyed wondering through the lower level floors filled with antiques from several eras. Including the working antique elevator! This was an enjoyable hotel to stay at! Just an added note, we did not experience any ghost encounters as far as we know !!!! Lol

We traveled with our son and grandson and wanted a place with separate bedrooms and close to town. This was perfect for us. The building is old and historic with plenty of quirky charm. Very comfortable mattresses and bedding. Air conditioning kept us nice and cool. My husband is an antique buff and spent hours in the store and was happy with his finds. Staff was friendly and helpful. My grandson loved the elevator and must admit I did too!

Claudia - We're very happy that you so enjoyed your stay! We do try to retain the charm of a bygone era, and are pleased we met your expectations, and that you all were comfortable. We do have something for everyone and strive to make each person have a unique and special experience. Our elevator is one of our favorite features! I'll be certain to tell staff that you found them to be helpful and friendly. Thanks for your kind words!

Loved this hotel. The building and rooms are original, as is the elevator which is 100 years old and still working perfectly. Everything was maintained very well and the staff was very helpful. They gave a personal tour of the hotel, instructions for the elevator, and some history of the building. The bed was very comfortable too.

We stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay, The price was right and to stay here you must appreciate the nostalgia and the old time atmosphere. The check is ok , very non presumptuous, and the atmosphere is very old fashion like nothing has changed in the last 100 years, our room was clean and western saloon stylish but we enjoyed the old fashion look. You have to use an 1800s freight elevator which is kind of scary and the check-in area is very cluttered and disorganized with antiques everywhere. But the location is nice as well as the staff and we would stay here again. The smoking area was outside on a patio overlooking an embankment which was very steep and late night we watched mountain goats and deer eat on the hillside, very cool.

medicwizz - We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay and that you would stay again! We try to give our guests a feel for the history of Deadwood. After all, the reason many people visit our town is to have an "Old West" experience. We are also an antique shop as well as having a saloon/restaurant. We're pleased that our staff treated you well and we appreciate your mentioning the fact. I'll be certain to pass that compliment on to them. At the top of the hill you mentioned is Mount Moriah, and we do get wildlife wandering along the hillside. Fun to watch!
