We have been to Deadwood several times, but this was our first time staying at the Deadwood Mountain Grand. We were very impressed! The Holiday Inn Resort was just up the road within easy walking distance to the famed main street of Deadwood. It was kind of nice to be a little bit removed from the hustle and bustle and noise, but yet close enough to be right there when you wanted to be. As mentioned by others the hotel lobby is a little hard to find at first as you walk through the casino to an elevator which takes you to the lobby. Then you take another elevator up to the rooms. After a couple of trips, it was no problem at all. Parking is very convenient, as they have their own spacious parking ramp at no extra charge. Free Parking is a hot commodity in Deadwood. Being IHG Platinum members, we were upgraded to the Mount Moriah suite with a balcony and a beautiful view! Our room was very nicely decorated. It reminded me of our room at the Mirage in Las Vegas. We had a refrigerator, as I believe do all rooms. We did not have a bathtub, but the walk-in shower was very nice. Bed and pillows were comfy and the room was very quiet. Free wifi seemed to work fine. There is a restaurant and a sports bar as well as a fairly large casino at the resort. We ate at the restaurant one night and it was good. Nothing real fancy, but a variety on the menu from burgers to steaks. We also ate breakfast there the next morning which was good and reasonable as well. The wait staff was very good. There is no continental breakfast, but they also have a little coffee bar that sells breakfast sandwiches, yogurt parfaits, giant caramel rolls, and lighter fare if you don't want to eat at the restaurant. There is also a gift shop on site. This resort is on location of the old Homestake Mine in Deadwood and you can tell by the décor and outside surroundings. They also have an event center on site that hosts concerts, etc. but there wasn't one going on when we were there. All in all, we would recommend staying here and we will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Request an upgrade if you are an IHG member - it's worth it if available.

We stayed for 4 nights September 2016. The resort is nicely decorated and rooms are clean upon arrival. The resort is within easy walking distance to Main Street bars and shops etc. A good location to explore all the beautiful surroundings. Close to everything. Parking is plentiful. My only complaint is that housekeeping did not do a great job after arrival. Beds were made but bathroom not cleaned everyday. However, new towels and bath supplies were always provided. Restaurant and casino are nice. We did not use pools or fitness area.

The Deadwood Mountain Grand is in a great location relative to downtown Deadwood. A three minute walk and you are in the center of town. This is also a good base if you wish to visit Mount Rushmore.

Joan on reception was pleasant and also offered us an upgrade to a suite at no charge. (This may have been because we are IHG members. Well worth joining if you haven't already!)

The hotel has a strange layout as you must enter the hotel after going through their casino. The pool area was clean and the hot tub was very hot.

The gentlemen on the front door and valets were very pleasant and helpful.

Our room was magnificent. We drove from NJ to Seattle and back, and this was, by far, the best room we had. The "Big and Rich" suite - (country stars, not me!) was beautifully appointed with a center fireplace, two TVs, large living room area and a gorgeous bathroom. Private balcony too. We did not want to leave.

There are not too many hotels That I am impressed with enough to return to when the staff are not very customer oriented-but this is one of them. Built into the mountain at the end of the town, the design and decor of this hotel is great. There is an event centre on sight and hotel parking too. Getting into the hotel to register is a challenge though and in the dark you may miss the sign to the entrance and parking. Once you have found the front door there is still the challenge of finding the registration desk-through the casino, around the corner and up an elevator, then Around another corner to finally check in. This task would have been easier if the entrance sign was lit up and if the valet was at his post to guide us. After s long day of travelling I was also not up to dealing with rude hotel staff. The front desk person and the bartender made up for our earlier rude encounters and made us feel at home for the rest of our stay----until we were woken up the next morning at 8:45 a:m by staff wanting to see if we were still in our room---what? We were instructed to put the do not disturb sign on our door- was the comment I got when I mentioned they had woken us up. The hotel itself is modern, clean and relaxing so we will give it another chance-the staff just need a reality check on customer satisfaction!

Thanks so much for staying with us during your recent visit to Deadwood and thank you for taking the time to review our property. We apologize for the confusion upon checking in and especially with being woke up by housekeeping with a do not disturb sign on the door. That is unacceptable and we have forwarded the issue on to our housekeeping department. We take great pride in having excellent customer service and will use your review to educate staff so this kind of issue does not take place again. We are happy our front desk and bartending staffs made you feel at home and sincerely hope you'll give us another chance the next time you're in Deadwood. We think you'll be happy with your decision.

Deadwood Mountain Grand has beautiful rooms to stay in. They also have amazing shows and events going on all the time so there is plenty to do while you stay there. I know that they have a Songwriters Festival every fall that my husband really wants us to go to. I don't gamble much, but there is a lot to do in Deadwood and the surrounding area no matter what the season.
