Review of Angel Oak Tree

Angel Oak Tree
Reviewed 31 May 2018 via mobile

This is a must see. We visited a Middleton Plantation and saw their 500 year old Oak as well. However, this one is more spread out and in a natural setting. I love these trees. There are some gorgeous ones at The Grand in Point Clear, Alabama as well. It is well worth your time and effort to go see the tree. I also got a much better price on a sweet grass basket there!

This tree really is amazing. The visitor center is sadly outdated and run down. Visitors could benefit from better informational displays, and it would probably bring more revenue if they spruce up the gift shop, maybe add some nature activities for youth.

Huge very old tree. Very impressive. It’s a very popular destination- free. History of the land it’s on is interesting. Now owned by the city of Charleston.
Parking is along the “shoulder” of a gravel road so be prepared! Not the best for a wide vehicle like a camper or if you’re pulling a trailer!
There’s a small gift/information shop and port-a-potties.

There is something so majestic about this beautiful beauty. I could not help but contemplate all the changes humankind and indeed the world has gone through during its lifetime. I felt very spiritual. No wonder ancient cultures worshipped under the trees.

The tree is 300 to 400 years old. It is beautiful. Looking at the tree made me wonder what history had come across its path.
