Really enjoyed visiting this little museum( felt a lot like a gallery)
Permanent exhibits of ancient artifacts, coins, icons, eastern and western were a happy surprise. Downstairs modern Oregon artist works on display. Very nice, small but wonderfully curated, gift shop. Enjoyed my,stumbled upon it , visit!

Visited the Hallie Ford with some art friends recently. We spilt into small groups for a docent tour. I have visited many museums in the past few years, and the Hallie Ford is a little gem. The docents are knowledgable but don't lecture you. My favorite gallery was the Native American exhibit. Fish traps, closely woven baskets, carvings, and masks were placed near more modern works by Northwest Native artists. And the small gift shop was terrific, carrying both inexpensive fun jewelry and more spendy work by local artists. All in all, a great experience for the museum lover.

I enjoyed taking my teenage granddaughter to the museum on a Tuesday. In addition to being free, it was a such a quiet morning there that we enjoyed taking our time and absorbing a wide range of graphic art, sculpture, and baskets.

A small museum with the nice exhibitions, but nothing particularly special. Somehow I expected a bigger, better museum in the state's capital city.
