I have an early flight westbound, and decided to give the Holiday Inn PDX a try. My stay was what I hoped for in a good Holiday Inn and the way many Holiday Inns used to be. I was changing yesterday from my hotel in the city to this one at the airport and had a four hour gap between check out at one and check in at this property. I got out to the Holiday Inn about 12::30 and had fully expected to just hang out on the property until 3 pm, but they checked me right in and gave me a room on the ground floor. Many people won’t like the ground floor because the rooms front the parking and there are only sheer curtains to pevent people from (theoretically) looking in, but I was asleep by 7:30 from jetlag and it didn’t bother me at all. I slept well and the bed is extremely comfortable. The room is fine and I found the floor I’m on very quiet. And where I am, no noise from the flights taking off and landing. The airport shuttle from the hotel runs every twenty minutes from 3 am and the front desk made a reservation for me to fly out. They did forget my 4 am wakeup call, which never came, but I was already up. That small glitch aside, overall, I had a great stay. Well done Holiday Inn PDX (but don’t forget the wakeup calls).
