Ho what a night…

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 12 Dec 2016
The day was spent in heavy rain and cold winds, we finally arrived at Studio 6 in the early evening, as we drove down into the garage there was a group of people standing around smoking and drinking…..not a good start.

We found a way up into the motel only to be confronted with a check-in behind bullet proof glass….my wife was getting concerned , but the check-in went smoothly, I’m not certain but the man who checked us in may have been on Americas most wanted?

A word about the room/studio it was big I mean BIG, the room was clean the hot water worked well and the beds deep and comfortable.
Would I stay again…. If I found myself in that part of Portland it would be OK

THIS PLACE IS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!! PICTURES ON THE INTERNET ARE NOTHING LIKE WHAT THE MOTEL IS. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Car was broken into, window smashed out on the first night. Checked out immediately and went somewhere else. Dirty rooms, weird housekeeping staff that kept knocking at my doors.. WILL NEVER EVER GO NEAR THIS PLACE AGAIN IN MY LIFE..

I had a reservation for 2 nights, based on pictures from their website, seemed like a nuce place. This particular one is a dump. There were people lurking in the garage, the outside lighting was terribe (very dark) I felt unsafe, no easy access from parking area to room, the sheets didn't look clean. I left, I did not stay here.

This was the worst motel experience we have ever had. Hair on the sheets. Filthy towels. Lock of door broken. Staff often absent. No room service. Littered halls, stairs, so creepy. We were there five nights, unable to find another motel or move, because I was sick and it was too difficult to move (we are old women and had requested first floor, but they put us on the second floor way down the hall, no elevator, many stairs down to first floor and then again to the parking lot.) First off, know that the staff we dealt with directly tried hard, when they were available, which was only sporadically - I had to go looking and get a daughter to go find her staff person mother.) BUT, we arrived and could not be checked in at 3. We went back at 5. The first floor room we requested was involved in a major water leak, so they put us on the second floor. There was no elevator. We had to carry suitcases, cooler, etc. to the second floor. (Staff helped). The parking driveway and path was littered, as were the carpets on the stairs and in the halls: cigarette butts, dirt. The counter had trash on it. The room had no coffee pot and not enough silverware for two. No couch, just three hard chairs, in spite of the huge room. The manager said it was the Motel 6 policy to not put couches in the "newly refurbished" rooms. It was very uncomfortable to use the living area. No lamps, just overhead light. No dish soap, dish cloth or towel, no way to clean the dishes. The freezer was unthawed, packed with ice, and the door didn't close. When we threw the bolt on the front door, it came out of the wall. The building seemed unsecured: front door was unlocked and no one was at the front desk at night. When we went to bed at 10, there were black long hairs on both beds' sheets. We called to have the sheets changed. It took 1 1/2 hours for her to arrive with clean sheets. The live-in staff brought sheets but "didn't know how to make a bed," so we made our own beds. We never had any room service at all. We had to dispose of our own garbage, bring towels down to the front desk to ask for more, ask for coffee packs, and never had sheet changes. When we used the bath towels they were soiled with oil and dirt streaks. People were using the emergency exit right outside our door to go smoke. The emergency exit goes to a yard that has no egress! Gates locked, I was sick during this visit and we couldn't move. This place is so bad that it gave us Motel Six fans, pause for ever staying at a Motel Six again!!!! Look. What can you expect for a low price in one of the "happening cities" of the U.S.? Studio 6 ain't no Trump property. Actually, it COULD be a failed venture, I suppose. We may never know. But I digress. I drove into Portland on a rainy day (Go figure!) not knowing where I was staying because my iPad was not behaving well. When I pulled up, I was a little disconcerted to see several sketchy characters smoking all around the entrance. The entrance did nothing for my enthusiasm, looking more like a guard tower for a prison than a hotel lobby. However, Kash, the manager and receptionist was quite nice and there was a room. I'd been in worse, I thought.

Actually, the place was quite acceptable. The room, clean and spacious, was appointed with all the stuff for a long stay, including a full kitchen and not one but two TVs. The bed was less than ideal but workable. No noise through the night. Underground parking. Like I said, I've been in worse.

The great thing is that here, you don't have to fight city traffic. I drove 5 minutes to the Parkrose/Sumner Transit Centre, parked the car in a very open space and took the train downtown, buying an all-day pass for $5. Do this! The traffic is horrendous and this seems to be the case at all times of day.

Room tip: Be nice to the clients and don't leave valuables in your car.

We got this room through the Park sleep fly program. Police were there removing someone when we arrived. Lobby looked like a jail. It was so loud and echoing in the lobby that I could hardly hear the person at the counter who was talking through a small speaker because she was fully enclosed in glass and metal (I'm sure for her safety). Hair in one the bed, ants in the other bed. Asked for clean sheets so we could change the bedding. No pillowcases on the ant bed. Hair in the bathtub. Loud people all night talking in the hallways. Did not feel safe and didn't feel my car was safe either. Disgusted, canceled the ride & paid for long term. Felt dirty and just wanted to get out of there in the morning.

Room tip: Go somewhere else
