I felt like a criminal checking in.

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 15 Nov 2021
I had to give them my driver license so they could make a copy of it, as well as my credit card. Then I had to sign and initial a bunch of stuff which had print so small I couldn't read it, and took a big deposit. I've stayed in places before like this and have never like it because their requirements imply that I'm dishonest, or at best just untrustworthy. The breakfast was so-so, and limited - the coffee was so strong that if a person turned the cup upside-down nothing would fall out I think. The bed was just barely OK - I could feel the springs on the edge of the bed and the pillows felt like they were made of concrete blocks. But I did get to sleep. This hotel is supposed to be on a main street but it sits back from the road and is actually quite difficult to find the first time in as well as out.

I am writing this review on this hotel for the first time since me and my fiance have been here which is over 2 1/2 months and this is the first complaint that I have. I booked our room in my name on another site and the price was $512.49 and they charged him $729.57 and then she called and said that she just wanted to hold his card and when he took it up there she charged his card again for
out $590.95 so then I took his phone up there to show her and she said she took a picture of the 729.57 but not the other one so now I need to go back up there to show here that I booked the room online and that I'm not a walk in. If she doesn't do anything then hopefully I can get the managers phone number so talk to the person who comes in and takes over. I'll write a another one and give everyone a update. The room has been nice but there is burns in the comforter and someone honks there horn outside our window early in the morning and then disarms there alarm for like 15min at about 2 to 4 am in the morning which wakes us up. I love the shower. Since Covid 19 the pool isn't open and they don't serve breakfast anymore. The wifi is great. I haven't had any problem with people breaking into my truck or my fiancé vehicle. OK I gotta go but I will keep you posted.

The breakfast was horrible, all food was watered down like coffee, juice, syrup and the waffle mix. When we flushed the toilet, there was a loud sound that lasted for over a minute. Every time. We flushed the toilet. They made us stay in the basement and they have no elevator. Smelled like pot in the hall. Everything is dirty and gross. The pool house smells like raw sewage. They argued over giving us towels on a day that we didn’t get maid service. Sheets didn’t even fit the bed and they kept coming off.

My boyfriend and I stayed 1 night here as a lay over spot on our way to the Oregon coast. We had our dog with us so we were told we could only stay on the 1st floor, in the basement. Also were told we would not be given a key card and had to be let into the room everytime by the front desk because none of the door keys were "working". Our non smoking room smelled so strongly of smoke, the tv, fridge and microwave didnt work so we asked to change rooms and proceed to walk around to 4 different rooms until we found one that did not have the smoke smell, all other rooms we went into were absolutely disgusting smelling filled of smoke. Our room we finally were ok with staying in then had stains all over the ceiling, the bathroom door had stains all over, looked like someone peed all over the door and the bathtub had weird brown stains we used a towel to stand on in the bathtub for fear of catching something from the ill cleaned bathtub. We were too afraid to sleep under the sheets and I thankfully had a extra blanket in my car we used. The workout room was under construction, we were not allowed to bring food back to our room from the breakfast room either. When we went to checkout and complained about all the issues and asked for a discount or reduced rate she said because we booked through Expedia she could not do anything also we were not charged the pet fee so she was going to charge us. My boyfriend asked to have that waived and she said no it's used to clean the room and remove the pet smell (even though they didnt even remove the smoke smell...) the lady would not remove the fee and said there was nothing she could do. We will not be coming back to this hotel.

Location - outside of Portland, there are numerous food options nearby
Service - was not impressed. We got in at 10 PM and were greeted normally but with a smell of smoke. We had a difficult time understanding the receptionist but he was polite and thorough. We got handed our keys and took the stairs down to floor 1 to settle in. When I opened the door, I was met with a female who was brushing her teeth and getting ready for bed. After numerously apologizing, I informed her we were given this room number just a few minutes ago. Her father offered to come up to reception with me to get it sorted out. Turns out the receptionist changed their rooms the previous night but forgot to change it in their system. I understand mistakes can happen but I did not get an apology. There was another female worker who he consulted while trying to resolve our situation who also did not apologize once. The male receptionist did offer to check the new room prior to us going in, which was thoughtful but shouldn't really have to be done if room switches were recorded in a timely manner.
Breakfast - waffle maker was only good option, old fruit that no one touched, bread and English muffins. Had coffee and hot water but gave Styrofoam cups which barely hold 3 sips. No place to sit and eat - you have to get your breakfast and retreat back to your room.
Room - also had a funky smell like stale cigarettes. The room was crowded, the bedding was old and outdated, just like the "inn" itself. The toilet made loud noise when flushing where we were scared it might overflow.
Fitness facility - was out of service when we went
Pool - was being used by children that were staying there, did not check it out but seemed as they were enjoying themselves. Pool is right beside the entrance.

As we were checking out, the family we had accidentally interrupted the night before were also checking out. The dad asked for a copy of the receipt to only be told by the female receptionist (same one who did not apologize to us) that she can't do that. She argued with him for about a minute saying they can't print receipt because he booked online so we won't be doing it for him. Watched her be unfriendly and her tone was not nice. Her behaviour continued when we went to check out as well. She did not say thank you, she did not ask how the stay went, she did not apologize for the night before. I was appalled by the lack of customer service which is one of the many reasons for the low rating.

Overall stay - would not recommend and would not stay again. It was a last resort stay as there were no other options but will take note of this experience and book ahead of time.

They should just not offer breakfast as it doesn't meet minimum expectations. They don't have the room (no place for people to sit), only offer waffles, toast and a little fruit, and don't think it is important to keep coffee going. Several folks had to ask for more coffee to be made before they would make it. We went out to eat.
