Nice Stay

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 11 Jul 2022
Stayed here when we flewed from the East Coast and the night before our return flight. We had a nice stay. We called and they sent a shuttle. Rooms very ver nice and employees were very helpful.

The only issue was that there was no continental breakfast the morning of our flight home even though we told that there would be one.

Great employees! Was Clean! But if you book on a site that is not their own, it is misleading. No pool, No jacuzzi and no continental breakfast. Did have a shuttle, but grumpy driver. We had to wait until he came over to the airport a second time.

From 8:30 to 12:30 am there was a loud gathering in the room below me which caused me to not get any sleep the management did nothing. Trying to say that they were unable to locate the room when everyone in the hotel could clearly hear which room and people going in and out of said room.

This is your standard Hilton Garden Inn, but in comparison with other HGI’s I have been in recently this one seems very bare bones.

The hotel is comfortable, but I definitely recommend getting an odd numbered room which faces away from busy NE Airport Way.

As others have noted, the bottom (fitted) sheet does not seem to fit the mattress. I only noticed this in the morning when I got out of bed. The mattress was revealed and had a flap that covered a dial which indicated you could change the firmness of the bed. I tried it but it did not seem to do anything.

The room was lacking in some things, such as a notepad and pen, that other hotels are bringing back. The walls were also a bit bare with only one piece of art displayed. Bulbs were a harsh bright white light. It would have been nicer to have warmer colored bulbs. There was no “Do Not Disturb/Please Make Up the Room” card in the room.

The room did have a towel animal, which was fun.

The biggest disappointment was the breakfast ($12.50 for the American breakfast). The menu was oddly, and crookedly, printed on one side of a ledger-sized piece of paper. Choices were limited and you got your own coffee from around the corner.

There is currently no evening bar or dinner service. The receptionist said they hoped to bring that back but are having difficulty hiring staff.

The hotel has potential, but I will wait to return until they have replaced the amenities that I am used to in a Hilton Garden Inn.

Falsely advertised, poorly priced, and politics in a corporate hotel?

First of all, this was one of the most expensive options near PDX but it advertised a pool, which made it seem worth the extra money. There isn’t a pool.

Breakfast service closed early, there was no hot water, the windows so thin that I woke at least a dozen times as planes passed, the bed was saggy in the middle, the sheets were rough, and so on. I am floored by the price of this place given the major lack in value.

On top of all the above, the place is clearly right-wing conservative. Upon entry there is a ridiculous sign that says Oregon’s governor Kate Brown is forcing people to wear masks. Then Fox News has been on the large screen tv all 5 times I’ve been to the lobby. A hotel is no place for blatant politicizing, especially when we go there as a place of refuge - I would have been equally beefed if the absurd signage were on the opposite end of the political spectrum.

Overall, this was nearly a comical experience. And it wasted enough of my money and I lost enough sleep that I’ll complain to corporate too.

The only upside is that it seemed reasonably clean. But so is Motel 6.

You’ve been warned.

Room tip: You have far better options near PDX for way better pricing.

I am sorry that you perceived our hotel as such. Our television in the lobby is controlled by the guests. We do not choose the channel, that is why the remote is accessible to our guests. As for the signage, it does not say that, nor is it "absurb". Our mask signage states, "per our Governor, Kate Brown, it is asked that masks be worn in all public areas of the building". So many states have different mandates, this just states ours and from what level of Government, so as not to be confused with just a blanket mandate.
As far as our guest room pricing, we are in line or below all of our competitors (apples for apples). I do apologize for the other issues that you experienced during your stay and these will be addressed with the appropriate departments.
Though you did not enjoy your stay with us, we appreciate you choosing Hilton and hope that you will continue to stay with the Hilton brand, as there are many Hilton brand hotels in our area to choose from.

While we were sleeping, our pickup was stolen from the hotel parking lot. Rooms and service were just fine, though. No breakfast served. Be prepared for extra $25 charge when you check in that will then be returned when you leave.
