Half of the front desk staff was friendly, the other half indifferent. I did wish there was a microwave in the room. There were many doors separating the wings which made it difficult getting in and out with baggage.

People are nice, accommodations are perfectly adequate, it on the University side of the interstate which makes access much more convenient. Plenty of breakfast, plenty of parking, and plenty of OU memorabilia.

Ok, keep in mind you are in Norman Oklahoma. This isnt OKC so you are not going to get a large selection of higher end hotels in Norman. The highest end hotel is the Embassy Suites...if that tells you anything.

Sooner is very old and is not modern...at all! If you are looking for a place to put your head down and take a shower, this place will work. If you are looking for much more than this, look elsewhere. The bar is smokey and musty smelling. The restaurant isnt open.

Room Tip: Layout is funky, ask for room up towards front of hotel otherwise its a long walk if you are in teh back.

If you want a little slice of Americana then this is your place. Stayed here many times. By far the best place to stay in Norman. The street out front is almost completely redone and the access to 35 is great to buzz up to OKC or the airport. On site bar and restaurant. Super cool Sooner memorabilia. I find something new every trip. Want to see the watch collection from 1980 bowl games? It's there. Old jerseys and pictures from way back when. It is a shrine whether you like the Sooners or not. In the summer they have a pool at least 11' deep and it is fun to swim with the kids. Hotel pools from today would never be like this. Free breakfast that is always hot. Family owned business with attentive staff. Quiet and great location.

I had friends and colleagues staying in the hotel and we met at the bar, terrible idea! The bar is one of the only remaining bar that allows smoking making it very difficult to breathe, my eyes were burning, and to top it off the bar was full and they only had one person working. Needless to say she was terribly busy and she tried hard but I was continually left with no drink or any access to one.
