Me and my husband booked this hotel for a weekend away from the kids to visit Put in Bay. We were extremely happy with our stay. We had some issues getting there and the owner stayed until midnight to get us checked in. She even offered to let me use some detergent to wash my clothes. With the hotel being on the cheaper side and not a chain my expectations weren't very high. We were so surprised with the room. It was incredibly clean and looked almost brand new. It had a nice patio to sit outside at night and a grill/picnic area and a fire pit area. I would recommend this to anyone going to the Port Clinton area.

Thank you for your review. I remember you well, as well as your adventure in getting here. I'm glad that a rough start to your weekend ended with a good experience at our motel.

We strive to provide the best values in the Port Clinton area and constantly reinvest to make our facility current with the standards that the chains would require, but without the higher price.

We are proud to be a family owned and operated independent motel and proud to offer our best service to families like yours.

I hope we see you again soon.

We stayed here because I couldn't find anyplace that would accept our 10-lb Silky Terrier on Put-in-Bay, I wasn't sure what to expect. We rented the Ottawa Cottage which was a mobile home in the park. This five star rating is for the excellent customer service, cleanliness and convenience - it was older with signs of wear but kept very clean. Know in advance that this is not a luxury location but it's humble charm was great for a quick weekend 'camping'. There were 5 of us, two teens, we were comfortable but I would recommend the Portage Cottage for 5 if it is available as it is a bit larger and has it's own fire pit.

Definitely bring food - we brought burgers, hot dogs, ribs, corn, lots of sides and drinks...and of course s'mores! There weren't a lot of healthy food options nearby but we had a lot of food and healthy snacks so be sure to bring food if this is something you are interested in - full fridge and stove in the unit.

The booking process was easy and the office staff very helpful. Make sure you have realistic expectations about this 'camping' type experience and you will not be disappointed. The neighbors (regulars annually) were super nice and overall we had a fabulous weekend!

Thank you for your review. We look to our guests for their input regarding our units and how we can best serve them. Yes this unit is a 2 bedroom mobile unit in our RV Park. For many many years I had guests inquire about renting a unit in the park, but I never did that. Finally I realized that the demand for such lodging was there, I only had to provide the unit. We have three such units in the park now and will soon be adding another.

The Ottawa is an older unit but we keep things up. It is very popular among our birdwatchers, competitive shooters, fishermen and families. It is also frequently booked by our neighboring condo owners and marina guests who do not have room in their own places for guests. It stays booked pretty regularly. You are correct in your review regarding what this unit is and who would like it, This unit is very much for the person who wants a "campground experience" with out the hassle of owning and maintaining their own RV.

We came to Port Clinton to fish. We got the Toussaint for our stay. Honestly, it's a 1980's mobile home with 1960's style furnishings. But it's fantastic. Clean. Large rooms. Comfortable bed. Washer and dryer in the hallway. Full kitchen. Fast Wi-Fi. You might want to bring your own large frying pan. After a day out on the lake you don't need glitz, you need a comfy chair, a cold adult beverage and someplace to cook your fish (electrical outlets outside). To top it all off it is a great price. Places are available to dock your boat if you have one. We've stayed in a lot of places that cater to sporting types and this one beats them all hands down.

6 of us stayed 06/02 to 06/03 for our yearly walleye trip to Lake Erie. Rooms were quiet and comfortable. Nice area with a charcoal grill for our meal after the trip. Beds were very comfortable. Bathrooms seemed updated and very clean. We plan on staying here in the future. They have an excellent fish cleaning facility for do it yourselfers like us.

Thank you for your nice review. We appreciate your input as we are always working to make sure we meet (and exceed) our clients expectations.

This year we will finish converting all our TVs to flat screens, finish our refurnishing of half of our rooms, and add some new fire pits to the picnic areas. Additionally we are adding more outside electric plugins for our fishermen who need to recharge batteries and completing a major infrastructure project that will enable us to move forward with more improvements over the next 5 years.

I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip and to hear that we'll see you again!

This motel was in a good location for going to Magee Marsh and other places on Lake Erie and the owner was very pleasant. There was no breakfast offered at this motel. The room and bathroom were clean but there is room for improvement. The carpet has seen better days and felt dirty when walking on it in my bare feet. The outlet in the bathroom was wired incorrectly and only functioned when the light switch was on. I couldn’t use my nightlight in the bathroom or use the hair dryer unless the light was on. Only found one unused outlet to charge our phones and tablet. Forget our electric toothbrushes.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate these reviews as a way to help us gauge our clients needs and improve our service. Without knowing which room you were in it is hard to reply specifically to the room but I can reply in general.

We do a spring cleaning in April before we open, when every room is dismantled and all carpets are cleaned at this time. They are also steam cleaned as needed and during scheduled deep cleanings thru the season.

As for our plugs in the bathrooms. They are not wired incorrectly. They are wired with GFCI's and are wired so that the bath light must be on to operate everything. It is the way these buildings were originally designed and constructed, and may be different than what you have expected in a residential construction. Since I have not had experience with a traveler using a night light at our facility, this is a rare usage that I never anticipated and am uncertain as to how to address but I will certainly give it some thought.

Many of our guests travel with tablets, laptops, phones etc these days and so two years ago we added an approved fused power strip above the night stand in every one of our rooms that allows for 5 outlets. one of which is used for the alarm clock and one of which may be used as an outlet for the lamp. The other 3 outlets are available for the clients to use for their phones, laptops etc. I thought the location of the power strip made it very available but perhaps you missed it?

As for not offering breakfasts, it is true that we do not offer breakfasts at this time. In speaking with our guests it has not been a priority for them, and as the type of traditional "mom and pop" non franchised motel, it has not been an expected amenity. What we strive to offer is value, as typically you can stay an entire weekend here for the cost of one night at the places just a mile away and it is that value that our returning guests have come to appreciate.

Again, thank you for your review as these always give me something to think about concerning how our guests perceive our facility and how we can better serve them.
