Great access to the wilderness area via the train and Gordon River. When we were there it was just prior to the "rush" period so it was fantastic. So quite and relaxed. The accommodation was average but clean and acceptable. The restaurant is excellent with a very good buffet that has an excellent range of food. The restaurant seemed under staffed however the service was not affected and the girls were very professional and provided friendly efficient service.

Hi Paul F

Thanks for taking the time to post your review. Strahan has a lot of offer from a cruise on board the Lady Jane Franklin II to seeing little penguins on the Bonnet Island Experience.

Taking in the magnificent views overlooking Macquarie Harbour at View 42 is a must do either for dinner or a relaxing drink on the deck.

regards

Dear poppygalore1955

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. So glad you were able to do a cruise on board the Lady Jane Franklin II. Strahan is a very relaxing place that actually has a lot to do, a visit to our activities center would have provided you with all the information you needed from sand boarding at Henty dunes, 4 wheel driving on Ocean Beach, seeing little penguins on the Bonnet Island Experience or a leisurely walk to Hogarth Falls.

I hope we can host you again.

Have visited Strahan several times but have always been camping. We decided to do the 'touristy thing' and do the river cruise and train trip. So glad we did. Stayed 2 nights in a waterfront cottage. Loved the convenience of being so close to everything. The room was comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast in the restaurant was exceptional as was the buffet on Saturday night. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend to others.
Only negative was other guest on each side of our cottage seemed ton travelling together and we're going back and forward continually and meeting up outside our room for loud talking and smoking.

Stayed: November 2015

Our faults I suppose. When looking at this place all you see in the ad is the great views of the harbour. Excellent you say as you click away on Booking.com.

Then when you arrive you discover you're in a peach coloured room that has 80's painted all over it without air-conditioning or screens on the window situated right out the back of the hotel facing nothing, seeing nothing. Not only 'out the back' in another wing, but at the back half of the wing that's at the back. You'd need a drone to get a view from here.

Never mind you say, at least you'll get a good nights sleep because it's quiet.

Then you realise the bed was designed by The Flintstone's Barney Rubble. Must have been, because it was like sleeping on a rock. Woke up with two sore hips and a crook back.

All I can say is if you'd like to stay here, do your homework and ensure you've got the room you thought you were paying for!!!!

Hi TerryAustralia2015

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. It's disappointing to read that you didn't have an enjoyable stay with us. We have 142 rooms that vary in style and location that cater for a wide variety of people.

We have recently updated all our linen, toweling and bathroom amenities, the next upgrade is to install brand new bed bases, this should be completed in the next couple of months.

I do hope we are able to host you again so that you are able to see first hand the enchantments we have completed.

We stayed in the cottages on the front of the harbour. They were quiet, clean and neat.
Spacious for our family of 6. Bathroom was very generous. Appreciated the kitchen/prep area.
Lovely warm staff who always greeted us and stopped for a chat.
Neat Bed linen, comfy beds and I really wanted to take the amazing pillow home.
