Great for price, water pressure and location but the beds leave more to be desired, I have stayed 6 times and only the first visit had a genuine double bed the rest were 2 small singles pushed together so you feel the ridge waking you up in the middle of the night unless you’re drunk lolMore

I booked a room last minute to break up a journey returning to Scotland from further South, we needed a dog-friendly hotel that served breakfast and this ticked the box and was within our tight budget.
We didn't exepect much from this hotel but on arrival at around 8.30pm we were greeted by friendly staff, a smooth check in and found our room to be dated yes, but spotlessly clean. For a dog friendly hotel there was no smell in any areas of the hotel room, corridor or dining area. It was clear the hotel has high hygeine standards across the board.
We had a comfortable nights sleep, hot water pressure was excellent and the TV in the room was actually decent for a budget hotel. Breakfast was top notch for the price, we had a full english each and some items from the continental, the staff superb and friendly.
Wouldn't hestiate to stay here again!

As this is a basic hotel, we weren't expecting luxury, the rooms were adequate and clean. The staff were friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome. The breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked and served piping hot. The only downside of the hotel was the charging point advertised as available on site is a Tesla charging station, this should have been made clear.

Was here 3 yrs ago wasn't disappointed then and the standard was excellent again...very friendly staff helpful with dog friendly service. Very clean place to spend time there .. breakfast was top notch too couldn't fault anything..I will definitely go back there again in future times

My daughter I needed a place to stay for a few nights, while my daughter visited her grandparents. Found this hotel - very reasonably priced.
I needed to work - so checked in very late on Thursday night - staff friendly, room clean and tidy. Set up my work station very easily.
Room had 1 socket in - I had read this elsewhere and took an extension lead. The 2 chairs are very uncomfortable, but with a pillow on it, it was fine for me to work in.
Nice little kettle, with some basic tea, coffee and milk provided - I took my own anyway.
Good pressure in the shower and easy to control the heat.
not too much noise heard from other people staying in the hotel.
Beds very soft - but not an issue. Plenty of pillows.
Easy access to Durham, Newcastle and Sunderland.
in general the hotel could do with updating, a lick of paint and removing the bathroom heater that has a sticker on telling you it not longer works.

Fortunately, I didn't end up booking to stay here. I was looking for a suitable room for a colleague, from London, to stay in for the night and so that we could record some interview audio for a non-profit documentary. Literally just recording his voice. I spoke with two desk clerks who said it would be absolutely fine and said I could come and look at one of the rooms to check out the acoustics. So I did that and left my details as one of the clerks said the manager may want to get more detail. The manager rang me and I explained we'd just be recording some audio in the room only for an interview then heading out around the north east to video some visuals of the area (not the hotel). She quickly shut me down saying "there is to be no audio recorded in the hotel" and that we couldn't do this. No offer to explain myself further! She was rude and abrupt. I may as well not have bothered being up front with them. I do hope she has a policy of confiscating peoples mobile phones when they arrive, who might happen to make videos or calls that record some audio. No idea how she manages to police that! Very unhelpful and unaccommodating woman.
