Description: The Wheelwright's Arms offers fabulous food and superb real ales, including those from our own Upham Brewery. We are very dog friendly and love to welcome walkers in that have been out exploring the local countryside and coastline. Our pub is conveniently situated on Emsworth Road in Havant, Hampshire and has a large free car park for our guests. We are easily accessible from the main A27 south coast road linking Southampton, Portsmouth and Chichester and just a short drive from the M27 and A3(M). We are just a short walk from The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre, venue for many great music, theatre and comedy events. Goodwood Race Course is just a 20 minute drive away.

I visited with friends having suggested the Wheelwright Arms for a pre theatre meal.
None of us are big eaters but the quantity of food on each plate was poor. It certainly doesn't reflect the high prices charged. A friend and I were given precisely eight chips each with our small piece of fish! The accompanying pea purée was less than a teaspoonful. For almost £10 in a pub showing a football match, this seemed a little overpriced. The cold new potatoes with warm chicken and bacon in the salad were an odd combination, but the Thai vegetable curry was very tasty despite the portion being too small.
Service was good and having a bottle of tap water on the table was appreciated in this hot weather.

Hello Stewjan14

Thank you very much for your review and feedback on your meal with us. We do have two sizes of fish and chips of which you ordered our smaller portion, after our check back on the night we did bring you more of our large hand cut chips for free. We are not a sport venue but we have been showing the England football matches, we do keep diners away from so that you are not disturbed. We do have our other fish and chips which is one of our best sellers and may be a better size depending on appetite.
I'm sorry if you feel disappointed with the size of you food on this occasion, we do pride ourselves on offering great friendly customer service.

I hope that we can get you to try us again soon.

Regards

To be honest, not impressed.
The venue was nice and quiet so we could talk, but the food was questionable.
Staff were very good , friendly and welcoming.
We ordered a cambembert to share which was lovely, but had to order extra bread.
A whole camembert with just 2 smallpieces of french toast each?
However, when one orders a crab and crayfish salad, surely it is not too much to ask that there be evidence of crab and crayfish in the salad..?
it was more like posh coleslaw with crab paste. Apparently chef's first night...not an acceptable excuse. The waiter procured another salad for us to share, and yay, crayfish was in it, nice gesture but by that time we were full of cheese and bread.
no, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Booked for lunch, thankful that we did as it quickly filled. my wife had a huge ploughman's and I had the fish and chips. Both meals were of good quality. The Berry Mess and Ice cream finished the meal off well/

Love this place!!! By far the best place in Havant to have something to eat and a nice drink! Went for Sunday Lunch this time, but have been here for dinner and just drinks many a time. Food is always cooked to perfection, they use local produce and change the menu relatively often - greeta choice of beers, wines, spirits etc.

The pub itself its really tasteful decorated and in great condition, nice seating are out the back and front. Friendly staff, quick service and has a really nice atmosphere.

Always has something going on and they show sports here, plus have just started doing breakfast... I've gotta try this :)

Is a little on the more expensive sire, but in my opinion worth every penny!!! Quality pub, food and drink!

Hi Matt D,

Thank you so much for your review, we are very happy that you enjoy what we are creating here at the Wheelwright's. Our Saturday morning breakfast club is well worth a visit and we have just started doing a bottomless prosecco brunch at the same time. We are slightly more expensive but that is reflected in the food, drink and service quality.

Looking forward to seeing you again in the near future.

Cheers
