Owner description: In late April/early May Pashley Manor’s spectacular Tulip Festival sees this garden, on the border of Sussex and Kent, carpeted with over 30,000 tulips, creating stunning scenes for visitors to enjoy. Tulips are followed by over 100 varieties of roses through June, hundreds of scented lilies, the kitchen garden showcasing an abundance of produce and a blaze of colour provided by hundreds of dazzling dahlias, during the Dahlia Days event in early September. Complemented by a fantastic café with a beautiful terraced seating area, exhibitions of sculpture and art and a lovely gift shop Pashley is a great destination for a day out.

We visited at the end of April for the garden's tulip festival which ends on 8th May.
Great displays of these versatile bulbs in lovely settings.
The tea room serves great cakes which can be enjoyed on the remodelled terrace overlooking the ponds.
Well worth a visit.

Was really looking forward to visiting having read wonderful things about it. The gardens were indeed magnificent but there were a couple of factors which slightly spoilt the experience. The entry fee was shockingly expensive and we were not prepared for the coach loads of elderly visitors who were collectively the worst mannered we have ever encountered with their pushing, complaining and bossing around. The gift shop was very well stocked but again made less enjoyable with the crowds of slow moving people with no queuing barriers when it came to pay.
Lovely place all in all, but very overpriced for the experience and I would recommend not visiting on a weekend due to the crowds.

So pleased you enjoyed our garden and gift shop but very sorry to hear you felt we were too expensive - I can assure you that all of the ticket money goes to the upkeep of the gardens; our tickets are £10.50 (or £11.00 during our Tulip Festival), which is about the same as a cinema ticket and we hope the gardens provide our visitors with 2/3 hours of entertainment/relaxation. The Tulip Festival is by far our busiest time of year - we are much quieter at other times - the rose, lily and dahlia displays are lovely too so perhaps if you are ever in the area again you might like to visit at one of those times.

The gardens are beautifully kept and especially so during the two week long Tulip Festival. There are many different colour coded zones complementing the various locations and backdrops.

The Manor House is a beautiful heritage feature and provides a wonderful framework for a superb wisteria, which covers the back and side elevations of the House.

If you are unable to visit during the tulips do catch up during the rose festival during the summer.

This garden is lovely but thought the £11 entrance fee a tad pricey for the size of garden and what was on offer.

The tulips are the main show at this time of year and whilst looking great I felt the garden was lacking in that “fills my soul with happiness” feeling that so many gardens do. There was a lack of artistry and creativity - just big swathes of one type of tulip next to another big swathe ....

I have been wanting to visit for years but now I have, it doesn’t call me back....

That’s quite a claim given there are many excellent and indeed far better known gardens in Sussex and Kent. However the natural rise and fall of the landscape of the area of the gardens provides a perfect starting point for the development of a truly great spring garden featuring tens of different varieties of Tulips. Though more compact than the famous Dutch Keufenhof the impact is equal. South facing terrace is a great lunch setting and a little exploring will add a walk thru a Bluebell woodland. It’s in the diary to make a summer return to see the bedding displays!!

Thank you Andy - really pleased you enjoyed the gardens and hope we will see you again in the summer (roses are lovely in June and the dahlias are great in September)
