This is a lovely little wood, highly recommended for a short walk of party of a longer one. NB
1 dogs aren't allowed though we got away unscathed with our small, well behaved & on a lead dog.
2 the car park isn't always open though you can squeeze in by the side of the road ok.
Been here a couple of times, there are many trails to follow, and a great deal of insect life to photograph, lots of butterflies and dragonflies, when the heathers are out its stunning its like following a pink trail!! a really lovely place, although it can get very muddy so recommend walking the trails when its a bit drier, dont forget to carry a drink with you in the Summer months as there is nowhere to buy anything.
Lovely walk through the woods at the weekend. So peaceful, never very busy and you feel at the heart of nature. Very relaxing especially at the end of a long week. A good escape. Routes are also easy to follow
Very peaceful and tranquil area, a wonderful array of birds and wildlife! Also a lovely array of butterflies!
A mixture of woodland and meadow managed by the RSPB who supply, on site, plans to help you get around. Good signposts whilst walking around giving you an idea of how many miles in each route. We went this weekend (in November) and it was very boggy so take your wellies or at least walking boots if it's drier. It's very quiet with not too many people around so a lovely walk just you and nature. We went last year and found a meadow full of wild orchids and a fox standing on our path facing us. A lovely place.
