My husband and I were lucky enough to receive an invitation to participate this past weekend in a pre-opening event at The Capital Grille in the North Hills area of Raleigh. The area, itself, is an exciting, bustling, new, up-scale neighborhood with a wonderful eclectic mix of shopping, dining and apartments/condos. Just being there is exciting!! The Capital Grille is a fabulous addition to this area and, already, has all of the markings of the new "go to" upscale dining establishment. From the time we walked in, through dinner and until we left we were impressed with the smoothness of operation. From the lobby to the bar to the dining room, this restaurant is all first class! The menu, which was pre-selected especially for this event, was a wonderful mix of the "regular menu" available upon the restaurant's opening (which was today, July 11th). The wine list, which was presented on an interactive tablet, was very user friendly and made choosing a bottle of wine very easy. We started dinner with an Appetizer - the Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella with Vine Ripe Tomatoes which was, per my husband, who is a full-blooded New York Italian "the best he's ever had!" I definitely had to agree - it was prepared perfectly and was delicious! For our main courses, I chose the Seared Tenderloin with Buttered Poached Lobster Tails and my husband selected the Bone-In 22oz Ribeye. We both requested medium rare and medium rare it was - spot on! The Side To Share was Lobster Mac 'N' Cheese - scrumptious! Desert was a Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake which was the perfect end to this amazing dinner! The portions were huge and perfectly prepared and presented - very impressive! Kudos to Executive Chef Matthew McNeely, for this delicious first impression, our server, Hailey, for her wonderful service, Manager Shawn and the rest of the Capital Grille staff for their attentiveness. This was a definite 5 star experience. We are looking forward to planning our next dinner at our new favorite place!
