Ok place to stop in for education of local wines. The tasting itself was comprised of young wines from lesser estates.

Thank you for your visit Tim and also for your very positive comment on my hosting prowess.

I am struggling to respect your comment regarding our wines; wine is subjective and you absolutely have a right to your own opinion. However, your wife expressed her appreciation for our wines, and even commented on the fact that, for the first time, two wines actually gave her goosebumps!

In the past, I too believed that the only wines worth drinking were the top end wines, so much so, that in one day, friends and I, drank wine valued well in excess of €100,000.
Amongst the wines we drank, were the
Mouton Rothschild 1945,1947 & 1959,
Haut Brion 1945, 1947 & 1959,
Lafleur Pomerol 1975,
Petrus 1961, 1982,
Le Pin 1982, 1990
Cheval Blanc 1945, 1947
Latour 1961, 1982

Today, after 30 years experience of living in St Emilion, and getting to know and understand the region and it’s wines, I can safely say that the “lesser” wines you refer to Tim, compete very favourably with those exorbitantly expensive wines I still love to enjoy on a very regular basis. I resolved to be open minded in order to evolve, something you really should try Tim.

Our selection of small, independent, artisanal wineries, has proven extremely successful for our 16 Wine Buff stores over the past 18 years.

Please excuse me if I find your comment misplaced.

Cheers, Paddy

We had a wonderful visit to The Wine Buff in St. Emilion where we met Paddy O'Flynn and his wife Pillar. It had been recommended by another couple during our vacation while in Spain before we shifted to France. We were only planning to stop in for a wine tasting but ended up spending 2 hours learning about wine and having a great time sipping various Bordeaux varietals. Paddy and Pillar are excellent hosts. We bought a case and it arrived back in California within the week. Cheers!

Thank you your very positive review Richard, it was a real pleasure meeting Cathy and your good self in The Wine Buff. Delighted you both enjoyed the experience and thank you for including us in your itinerary. I was talking to my sister Grainne, Le Grainne Cafe in Chelsea NY, about your brother. If ever he has the opportunity to visit her restaurant please have him ask for Grainne.
Enjoy your wines and ‘till we meet again.

Cheers, P & P

Saw the sign Paddy O'Flynn and had to pop in as our eldest son is named Padrig Flynn. Spent a great afternoon wine tasting and listening to Paddy's passionate love for the land and the wine that comes from it.The craic was 90 meeting up with couples from Oz. and America. A recommended experience and haven out of the hustle and bustle of St.Emilion. The Sancerre and Margauix was sublime. Truly extraordinary wines at ordinary prices and a must see for the traveller to the town.

It was a real pleasure Scott and thank you for your fabulous review. Pilar

Sorry to have missed you Scott, I would have enjoyed talking about our last encounter in Chicago! It didn’t go unnoticed ye swept up O’Gara soon after.
Jokes aside, Pilar really enjoyed your company and hopes you both have a fabulous trip to Spain.

Cheers, Pilar & Paddy

We discovered Paddy's shop purely by chance in July 2016 when visiting Saint Emilion. It turned out to be a great impromptu visit and Paddy was very welcoming. We had a great time tasting some amazing wines and spending nearly 2 hours in the shop. We also came away with some fantastic wines and promised ourselves we would be back soon.

Being back in Bordeaux this month we decided to contact the shop to see if we could arrange some more wine tasting. It turned out Paddy was getting some work done in the store but invited us out to Saint Emilion anyway. He opened his shop especially for us and introduced us to some more lovely wines from small local vineyards in the area and yet again we had a wonderful time.

If you are ever visiting Bordeaux and Saint Emilion, do make time to call into Paddy, you will not be disappointed, some great Irish hospitality in the home of Bordeaux wines.
