The best words I can use to describe our experience is: impersonal indifference….on the part of the lobby staff, both at arrival, and the next morning, while trying to find some breakfast before an early departure. We had driven in heavy rain all day and arrived just before three. We were promptly checked in but with no welcome, no sense of “glad to have you”. We were told to not leave the door to the balcony open! We found our room and it was lovely, truly a nice oasis. The decor, amenities, the bathroom, and the lovely balcony with a view of the falls was wonderful, which was to be expected at $300 per night.
We headed to the Tavern for dinner, which I'll review separately.
We inquired about breakfast when we returned to our room after dinner and were told it would be available at the Tavern. My husband called the Tavern to see what time they opened and we were told, they would be closed. There was no room service breakfast available on Mondays. We called the lobby again and were told they’d have pastries and coffee in the lounge by 7:00 AM. We had to leave by 7:30 so my husband went down at 6:52 to bring some coffee and pastries up. Nothing was out . He was told to come back at 7:00 AM. At 7:10, upon his second trip down to the lobby - the girl in the lobby said told him they were running late and to come back in another 15 minutes. We had to leave so we had no breakfast available before we left.
The hotel touts that they strive for genuine hospitality and personalized attention. That was not our experience.
