The whole downtown lock operation and various displays and small museum area at lower end of locks worth visiting.

Went into the information centre to find where the Post was and they had no clue of its whereabouts. Ended up finding it from a young man on the street who was not even of drinking age. Need to brush up on their places of interest.

We really enjoyed walking around the canal area. Saw where the ropes had rubbed on the poles and fences as the animals hauled the boats up the Erie Canal through the locks. Especially enjoyed watching as they filled or emptied the locks as boats traveled through, depending on if they were headed up or down the canal.

We enjoyed watching the boats go through the locks. Lots of historical information available on the signs around the locks and in the museum. Free parking nearby.

Watch the boats go through here. You can get close to the water's edge and watch the controls manipulated on the water valves and door motors.
