Like many European hotels , the Barlow is small , only 16 rooms , but the room was most comfortable . We had a queen size bed , and , even in a small space , there was a small sofa, chair, and coffee table . The coffee maker came with choices from different coffees and teas as well as hot chocolate . The bathroom had a tub and shower. No need to bring soap, etc. A bonus was the fireplace that comes in every room . Free parking is behind the hotel . Warren Street is the perfect location for shopping and restaurants .

Room Tip: We were on the second floor right next to steps to lobby . If you want the elevator , ask for a room near the back .

We're so happy you enjoyed your stay with us so much and thank you for such an exceptional review! You've really captured the essence of what we have tried to create with The Barlow: comfortable rooms with ample space and furnishings as well as modern amenities like Keurig Coffeemakers, DirecTV, and complimentary WiFi. Thanks, too, for giving a shout out to our environmental practices - we do all we can to reduce the amount of waste the hotel produces, including our water usage, and at the same time effectively managing our energy consumption to appropriate levels. We hope to welcome you back to The Barlow and thank you once again for the fantastic review!

We enjoyed our stay. It is an old restored boutique hotel with upgraded amenities. The location was great. The only thing is that they installed a floor a/c unit and vented it out through the window ok but did not insulate in between the windows to keep the bugs out. We had to kill a few mosquitos until we covered the opening with a towel.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are happy that you noticed the old charm we kept but also made sure our guests were comfortable with the modern amenities. We also feel the location is a true asset. Our guests have the ability to walk out the front door to an array of restaurants and shops. We are sorry to hear that some mosquitos were in your room. Please understand with the old building we do try to make sure this doesn't happen.

A getaway weekend to enjoy the shops of Warren Street and have some delicious food. The hotel is perfectly located with very comfortable rooms. Loved the shower. But the vibe is more rooming house than Hudson Valley quaint. Empty lobby, no music and the most useless reception staff. We asked for a variety of recommendations for drinks, brunch, ice cream and they know nothing about their town.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are happy that you felt the location was perfect and loved the spa shower. The lobby does offer a quiet sitting area that guest like to gather, whether it is alone to do some work or a group talking about their day. In couches offer a comfortable common area that in the winter is cozy by the fireplace. We are sorry that you felt the reception staff was useful when you inquired about recommendations and agree they should be knowledgable about the area.

The Barlow is well located in the heart of "downtown" Hudson. When we were there it was very hot outside and because it was a Tuesday, most every shop on the main street was closed. This is a town devoted to entertaining NYC folks who want to get away from the city for a weekend, not the southern tourist seeking cooler climes in August. If you want to spend money in Hudson, plan to do it Thursday-Sunday--not Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Our room was fine, but the Needle Shower was amusing and amazing. We needed an instruction manual to operate it at full capacity, but managed to figure it out. All 16 rooms must be equipped with them--we can vouch for at least two. It was fun to try it out, but I don't think I need to install one at home. The staff was very nice, personable and helpful. They keep the front door locked which turns out to be a good idea as there was a mentally unstable local Hudson resident roaming the streets striking up uncomfortable conversations with my traveling companion and me as we attempted to enter the building to check in in the afternoon. He moved on, we gained access, all was well.

Thank you for the 5 star review. Yes, the city is a bit quieter in the beginning of the week with some of the shops and restaurants closed. The city of Hudson and the surrounding area does offer history and beautiful nature to explore. The spa showers are a bit tricky to use, but once you have mastered it many of our guests find them relaxing. We do offer them in 15 of our 16 rooms. The handicap accessible room does not have one. It is always nice to hear kind words about our staff. We do try to make every guest feel welcome. We are sorry to hear that you did have to encounter the disturbance of the individual on the street. We want to be sure our guests feel safe and to reassure that that type of situation if not a normal occurrence.
We look forward to your next visit to Hudson and The Barlow Hotel

We visited this hotel on a short trip out of NYC. The situation of the hotel is good with plenty of restaurants and bars in the vincinity.
The hotel itself was a little bit of style above substance.
They did provide cold water in the reception area but it would not have hurt to have a coffee station and perhaps some pastries for the residents.
Rooms were fine but air conditioning which was both individual and universal was a bit noisy.. Also for a hotel that purports to be high end sheets should have been changed every day.

We also feel our location is perfect for our guest to be able to enjoy the many pastry shops, restaurants, bars and shopping that are within walking distance. The Privilege Partners Program gives our guest the ability to try a variety and receive a discount for being a guest of The Barlow. Each room is equipped with a Keurig machine with a selection of coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The Barlow Hotel is proud to be a Green Hotel, with limiting the use of water and energy.
