Nice spot for dinner, but don't plan on conversation, even when there's not a band playing. Despite having made a reservation, we were seated at a bar. They were accommodating in moving us to a table, but it was a tiny one for the four of us, and directly in front of the stage. We thought the food was very good. If you have a favorite performer, try to get reservations for a table and get there early.

Went to Hudson with 5 ladies for a girls weekend. Ate dinner at Helsinki. The meal was beyond fantastic. The flavors were complex, the portions huge and the prices low (as compared to NYC)- what else can you ask for! The drink menu was interesting and the wine list extensive. The venue was a really interesting place (renovated bus garage). After dinner we went to the club and danced the night away.

Club Helsinki is an architectural wonder in this post-industrial mini-city (population 6,600). If you are into architecture, it is well worth the trip to see the transformation of this former bus garage to a well-known music venue. They book internationally renowned musical acts. They have an amazing stage set-up and a huge upstairs room where they have another bar and is great for private parties, bar mitzvahs, etc.

It is a casual dining experience with prices that are closer to a fine-dining experience. Service is good. They have a pretty limited selection of beers and wine in my opinion, but I'm pretty picky. Likewise the food. It is a southern-creole style that many people like. Keep in mind that if you are a vegetarian or observe Jewish food restrictions, it will be almost impossible finding anything to eat.

If you like this type of food, go there. You will not be disappointed. In my opinion, they have limited themselves by not having a broader menu.
