Hosts Duncan and Russ have mastered that most elusive of B&B virtues - the ability to be both attentive *and* invisible, at all the right times. When you need them *poof* they appear like magic to help you with whatever you require, then just as magically disappear and leave you to make yourself at home in this beautiful old house.
My most recent visit (I've stayed twice now) saw a couple of rainy days, which in any other setting might be a problem. For me it was ideal - made myself a cup of tea from their delicious complementary selection, called up some soft jazz on their Sonos sound system, grabbed a book and curled up in one of the ultra-comfy chairs in the library.
Later I made some more tea and sat out on the back porch for a while listening to the sound of the rain on the leaves in this lovely outdoor space until I got chilly enough to go back to my room, light a fire in my fireplace and run a hot bath in the oversized Victorian claw-foot tub. What better way to spend a chilly wet day?
The breakfasts are delicious and filling, parking is convenient, the house is located on a quiet cul-de-sac street that's still just a few short blocks from the shops, bars and restaurants of downtown Hudson.
Highly recommended, I'll definitely be back.More
