Off season is the best time to visit this property, because the summer rates are just not worth what you’re getting. The hotel was redecorated a few years ago, but it already needs a bit of a refresh. The room we had did not even have a closet, just a few hooks on the wall and a tiny cheap coatrack/Ikea looking contraption with two hangers. The bathroom is extremely tiny and utilitarian, and the wall mounted shampoo/soap dispensers in the shower looked grungy and unclean. The two chairs in the room had cheap tubular frames and the cushions needed replacing at least three years ago. The shades were torn on one window, and everything looked basically the worse for wear. The entire exterior needed a good paint job and sprucing up.
The Halyard restaurant had a very snotty hostess, who reprimanded us for not having a lunch reservation for a 90% empty restaurant.
Pros: every room has a water view, the towels are big and plush, and the bed was comfy. The waitress we had at The Halyard was a total sweetheart, and her wonderful personality and friendliness helped make up for the hostess.
