We were desperate, tired of cycling the C2C and in need of a recovery beer that beautiful sunny day in May 2018.
I walked into the pub to ask if the bartender knew a place to stay for the night, well actually he did have an apartment in a renovated church which we could have. Dave advised us "first take that beer and than we get you settled in", job welldone Dave. It's an old and cosy pub with open people to talk with, have a laugh and a beer, playing pool and darts, having Diner in the pub is also possible. Very good, thank you very much Jackie. The apartment in the Church was renovated by Dave himself and when finished both wil be very beautiful and of outstanding quality. Take away breakfast was prepared for us by Jackie. We Dutchies like to thank you for your hospitality and warm welcome in your lovely Medieval pub (must keep it that way) and renovated church. To all travellers, don't skipp Garrigill, cause you miss George & Dragon Pub.

Called in recently and what a wonderful experience. Staff were most welcoming and they had that magical touch so needed in the pub business.
Wonderful home-made stew for lunch made it feel so very much a homely place where people were really valued. Beer was well kept.
All in all very simple and yet so very effective. Better than it has ever been in my view: long may it continue.
Will definitely be back soon. Well worth the trip from Washington.

Had tea here on a weekend away. Really good food all made fresh on the premises. Chicken goujons were amazing. Really friendly staff. Totally recommend.

This is a proper pub!
It has good beers at low prices. A nice range of simple but excellent food.
The fish and chips with mushy peas is highly recommended!
No posh gins no fancy soft furnishings just a great pub

Some friends and I spent some time in Garrigill recently. The George & Dragon was a proper find! Friendly owners, staff and locals. There was a choice of 3 real ales as well as the usual pub drinks. The pub itself looks and feels as though it is still in the 17th century and we were all so glad that the new owners hadn't modernised it, which we felt would have ruined the atmosphere and the pub. The pub offers food as well, but we didn't sample their fare.

Don't pass this one by, it's well worth visiting.
