Good history lesson and volunteers but not a lot to do. Best to go during their events in the Fall to see their antique sleigh collection in the octagonal barn

Built in 1663. It's the oldest building in upper NYState. 1663. Built by a relative of the guy that the Bronx was named after. This guy, Pieter, went broke in Albany and walked the 18 miles to here with his wife, and built this stone house. They had no horse, no cows, no nothing, except a lot of trees. Which the missus sent back to Holland, and by 1738 the grandson was rich enough to build the addition, all fancy-like. The property stayed in the famlly, until 1938, which is why you can see it, just as it was, back then. Extremely well-informed and fascinating tour guide.

this is a treasure and the people who work there are as good as gold. I went on a chilly willy tour and was just so impressed I want to tell everyone to go when they reopen.

A really interesting house, one of the earliest Dutch houses extant, the curator told great stories, the architecture of the house, built in sections from different generations.
