The advertising says lobster. But, the sliced steak I had this evening was excellent. Simple dish, steak, sauce, baked potato. Not extra salt, just good tender chargrilled steak and good gravy, baked potato. Well worth the price. Wife had Caesar salad with shrimp. Great. Fine service. This is a very comfortable place to dine.

6 of us had lunch and everyone really enjoyed their meal and could really relax on the patio at the water's edge. We all ordered different meals and our server Josh was excellent. We had chowder, seafood and salads. Tables are nicely spaced which I appreciate. We could easily converse and enjoy the experience with our family.

The setting for this restaurant, at the historic point in Catskill, along the Hudson River -- is so impressive as to make the menu rather forgettable. There's a wide array of italian and seafood options - though none will rate as a favorite. The burgers and fries are a standout for their size and flavor and there's an emphasis on a revolving array of drink specials. Go here for the beautiful setting -- and forgive the mediocre fare.

We love sitting on the deck or patio on a summer evening, sharing some wine and enjoying the wonderful, fresh seafood and fish selections. It was had to choose. The lobster here is outstanding. The fish and seafood are always fresh and perfectly prepared. Fried or broiled? Italian-style on pasta or with a lovely rise medley? Salad? Just a seafood appetizer or entre? We actually enjoyed another meal with the left-overs from our supper! Not fancy but friendly service. Enjoy watching the boats on the Hudson.

My friend Elaine and I went to Frank Guido's Port of Call restaurant in Catskill NY and, given their good reputation, we had a twenty minute wait. We were impressed watching the hostess, Ann Marie--who we learned later was actually a manager--hustling around the restaurant with her assistant Erica. In addition to listing and seating guests, they moved tables and chairs, assured guests were attended to immediately, picked up trash and anything else that needed attention.
Throughout our meal we observed the wait staff and bus staff hustling like Ann Marie and Erica. Our waitress, Heaven (yes, as in...) placed water on our table as soon as we were seated. Even when we were leaving we saw her with a tray of six waters waiting for a family to be seated. The service was beyond anything we've seen before. We've experienced good service before, but we've never seen every employee hustling like that.
As far as the meal, we were very pleased with our selections. I had my favorite, grilled salmon, and they let me order a baked potato instead of the rice dish. They were cooked perfectly. Elaine ordered grilled scallops and sliced steak with a baked potato. The meat was exactly as she requested. We were also glad the potato skins weren't covered with salt like some other restaurants. Everything was delicious and they timed delivery just right.
The dining tables were outside on two levels and overlooking the water made dinner even more special. The Port Of Call restaurant is definitely worth the trip and the wait.
