We are so pleased and fortunate to have our first Africa Safari in Kapama Karula. Four nights stay and eight game drives made the one of best experiences in our life. Even though we traveled extensively, We still experienced many “first time” in here.

The lodge and villa : located at the river bank in the woodlands, serene and airy. The design and decor are contemporary with African hunting lodge in mind. Earth tone , clean line , sophisticated simplicity. The villa is very spacious, foot to ceiling sliding doors open to the meadow and woodlands that complete the indoor and outdoor living. Under the African Sun, swimming in the private pool, watching the wild animals roaming in woods at your own viewing deck, Heaven !

The food: Every meal, from breakfast, lunch to dinner ; is the example of fine dinning at most with the possible resources. First time we had crocodile and ostrich carpaccio, kudu meat , ostrich burger. All beautifully presented and well executed. Superb! Our food server Johan is very attentive and gracious.

The spa: with nyalas, impala’s welcome at the entrance, the peaceful view of bushes and woodlands ; the spa treatments at Karula can’t be missed. Everyday we had treatment after morning drive, from Swedish, hot stone , African special to facial. It is wonderful way to sooth the body and soul. Our therapist, Goodness and Charity are very skilled , delivered excellent treatments.

The Game Drive: After all, Safari is about the wildlife. We are very fortunate to have Ruan (ranger) and Nicolas (tracker) as our guides for game viewing. The first drive we encountered three young male Lions in rest. The second drive we witnessed a Leopard , and big Lion with their prey! Of course it was separate scene. We saw totally 4 times Lions ( three different groups and one individual), four time Leopards ( four different individuals ) , extremely LUCKY! A herd of elephants, buffalos, Rhinos, abundant giraffe, zebra, kudus, impala, baboons, wild beasts, wild boars, hyaenas, jackals, Bush baby .... many many more , and beautiful birds.... Ruan and Nicolas are very genuine dedicated, working above and beyond to make our journey unforgettable!

This is a journey for life. In the wild animal kingdom we encountered the magnificent creatures up close and personal . We shared their love, nurture, pride. we also felt their pain and sorrow, ( a mother giraffe lost her baby to a Lion) we humbled, reverence for life. In the eye of wildlife, human is just being; there’s is no different race, color, sex and any kind of classifications. Now we know why people coming back and back, in the wild animals’ kingdom purify humans heart and soul. ......

We sincerely appreciate every member of staff in Karula providing the excellent services , especially thanks for Ruan, Nicolas, Johan , Ms. Monkey ( the house cleaning lady) Goodness, Charity (spa therapists) and Louis (bar tender) .

We had been to Kruger at Singita before and this was far far more luxurious and better. The buildings were spectacular and very well kept. They looked brand new and were only a few years old. Being from Miami we were more comfortable in a modern, contemporary building with stone floors, food ceilings and a lot of glass. Our room was a 2,600 sq. ft. modern "home". My wife needs complete darkness to sleep and they accommodate us in the 2nd BR of a family suit.

The service was the best we had in Africa with 200 people working in a 15 room hotel. We ordered food before we arrived and it was made to order per our request. Every second day was a cook out and the other in the restaurant. They packed food for our trips and safaris for us.

Most important we saw all thin north Kruger was less developed than south which as a good thing. Kampa's entrance is across the street from the entrance to the airport. There is even an orphan elephant preserve on the 36,000 acre grounds where we were able to feed and interact with elephants.

Room Tip: We saw antelopes all over the place on the grounds. Be quiet and they will come up to you.

We booked a two night stay to celebrate our son’s 21st Birthday.

The rooms are simply stunning, the food is top quality and the staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive.
The food was delicious and of a great standard.

Our rangers (Arbree and Elvis - apologise for any misspelling) were professional, knowledgable and great fun. We were lucky enough to see the big five within two drives, and in quite a spectacular way!

Will definitely return as it has been the best safari experience we have ever had. A truly wonderful place.

2 room villas were amazing, but in the kids room they had a wii which was expected to work but all of their games were scratched. The food was good not amazing but the service was great. The spa was ok, not so relaxing. The gym was up to date with all new equipment. Nice safari lodge.
