The estate is an oasis waking up to birdsong of a morning. We stayed for one night on two separate occasions. The weather cooperated for us to sunbathe the first time and to drink champagne around the pool before cooling off for a swim. We appreciated the use of the golf sized umbrellas the second time.

The breakfasts were amazing and we appreciated having maps printed off for our off the beaten track routes to get to our next stop along the Garden Route.

The urban chic was a pleasant change from our more traditional overnight stops and it worked so well with the surroundings. We loved the little candle lit trees at dusk and the scent of the flowers.

As an added touch, the gardener even washed one of the cars, having had a bit of an "off road" experience coming across from CPT!

Knowing just how booked this establishment can get, I'd suggest travellers book as soon as they know their dates.

Well done Carla and Maarten!

Room Tip: The rooms to the left hand side are further away from the road and make for a super quiet night'...

We stayed at Bloom Estate, sadly only for one night, on our tour of the Garden route. I am only say we wished we could have stayed longer .
We were warmly greeted and welcomed by the host and shown round by the hosts Karla and Martin. The accommodation was stylish and luxurious with every attention to detail. Contemporary furnishings, huge comfortable beds , spacious and airy rooms . The breakfast was was incredible with fresh produce, presented and tasted to Michelin star standard .
The grounds are beautiful with swimming pool and hot tub . Such a relaxing environment.
I can't recommend Bloom estate enough .

Traveling on the garden route we felt Swellendam was a good place to have a stopover.
Our family of 11 were warmly welcomed by our hosts at the door and shown around.

The rooms are modern and there is a lovely games and drinks area to relax as well as the pool. Breakfast was a feast with the freshest ingredients. The town is quaint and we went to a lovely restaurant which was one of several recommended by Karla and Maartin.

Highly recommended.

Being on a long trip in South Africa, we asked travel agents ( Pangea Travel / Inspirations Travels & Tours ) to book our accommodations for a large part of our trip. As much as we love 'the traditional Bed and Breakfast' with it's frilly comforters, lacy pillows, antique doll collections and well meant pot-pouri bowls; the fresh and modern clean design of fabulous Bloomestate Luxury Retreat was like a breath of fresh air on a hot and stuffy day. Our fabulous hostess Carla always had a smile for us and made the time to get to know us as people.
This luxury retreat can not be faulted in any way. Sleek design, clean and cubist lines, imaginative use of colours... Our very large garden room with own patio was ideal to sip some local wine while the sun was slowly setting behind the majestic mountains. Some times it's the little things that often go unnoticed to change a vibe from 'good' to 'perfection':
Fresh flowers everywhere, a cute little surprise box in the room with all amenities you might need, all the latest Conde Nast glossies, little candles and fairy lights in the trees when you come home after dinner, and friendly caring professional hosts.
Breakfast, lovingly prepared by Maarten included treats not even seen at Five Star Hotels. I will not spoil your surprise, it is just something you have to come and find out for yourself. This true gem for us is what perfection is all about.
If you are looking for dusty bouquets of dried flowers, crochet and macrame, or a location to do your laundry and hang it to drip dry on your own terrace, this might not be the place for you. If you'd like to be surprised by classy fresh inspirations and genuine hospitality: look no further. We will be back!

We travelled through South Africa for quite some time and have stayed in a large range of great hotels, but Bloomestate was definitely the most magnificent place that we stayed at!
This boutique hotel offers everything for a very relaxing, but also exciting stay in Swellendarm. The perfect location allows one to reach many interesting sights within just a short car drive. The hotel itself is located in a park-like environment, including a beautiful pond, jacuzzi, and a pool. The public areas including the lounge and the bar are very stylish and modern and the perfect place to enjoy some of the complimentary tea or coffee (board games included!). There are 7 spacious, bungalow-like rooms with extremely large bathrooms - perfect to relax!
Last but not least, we have to mention the extremely friendly host and staff (they helped with a lot of tipps and dinner reservations) and the incredible breakfast! Thank you for such a fantastic stay. We would always love to come back!
