If you are looking for decent beer in wine country, Tuk-tuk might deliver. They have a variety of 'craft' (whatever that means) beers, brewed in the American style, i.e. frothy and unoriginal. There is no beer that stands out; the generic pale ale, IPA, weizen, etc. Still, if you need a beer in Franshhoek there aren't many other places.

Food was average. Beer and service fun. Sat with some friends and caught up. It feels like it should be in Stellenbosch rather than Franschhoek. Having been in a tuk tuk before it was kinda gimmicky. Nice place overall.

These guys charged us R60 for 'beer tasting' though we ordered beer separately after the 'tasting', fully unaware that we would be charged for 'beer tasting' later in the bill..what a shame..

After a fabulous morning at the Motor Museum just up the road in Franschhoek, we were pretty ravenous by the time we reached TukTuk Microbrewery.
The specials of the day were basically 2 different types of hot dog, plus a meatball concoction. Most of us opted for the hot dogs but a few minutes later after placing our orders, the waiter informed us that the kitchen could only do 3 hot dogs as they were out of rolls. They had hamburger rolls but not hot dog ones. Not a problem, we suggested he just halve the sausage and put it in a burger roll but this was not to be - obviously the kitchen did not think that was a good idea.
I changed my order to have one of the starters so it all worked out well in the end. The general consensus was that the good was lovely , and the only other problem was that 2 of our guests only received their fish dishes about 10 minutes after everyone else, but it did not cause major problems. We tried some of the beers and were quite pleased with the TukTuk Lager - as well as a dark been which was pronounced to be "Not too bad" . ir ended up being a mid price range but this is pretty good considering that Franschhoek caters mostly for tourists who are taking full advantage of the fabulous exchange rates they receive for their Dollars, pounds and Euros.
