Description: There is nothing like a familiar welcome to create an atmosphere of warmth, a sense of coming home and of good things prepared with love. The Lust Bistro & Bakery enfolds you with that feeling of belonging that fills up your senses with satisfaction. Cradled in the folds of the peaceful Vrede en Lust wine estate in Franschhoek, the Lust Bistro & Bakery entices one's surroundings with the tantalising aromas of freshly baked artisan bread - imaginative creations of Jean Pierre Smith, patron chef and baker extraordinaire whose lunchtime chalkboard presents a constantly intriguing invitation of discovery. From breakfast to late lunch, there is something for everyone: salads crisp with dew-fresh seasonal garden produce, cakes just out the oven, cheese and charcuterie platters boasting South African specialities, mouthwatering chicken and beef dishes all exquisitely presented. The Lust Bistro & Bakery is definitely an experience you do not want to miss.

We visited Lust for lunch whilst on the Franschhoek wine tram. Unfortunately the food took a little longer than expected to arrive and we had to rush our lunch to make the tram.

The build your own sandwich concept was fun and the sandwiches were very tasty. I really loved the Gin Float, extremely refreshing after a day of wine tasting in the hot weather.

We sat outside and it was a lovely setting :)

Used the Bistro a couple of times whilst staying next door for a wedding over a weekend. The quality was excellent and all of the party felt the same. Will definitely be back.

My husband and I visited the Lust bistro twice during our 3 night stay in Franschoek.
We were doing a late afternoon wine tasting at Vrede en lust, but decided to order some pizza for take away before doing the tasting. Placing the order was effortless, and the waitress brought our pizza and bill to the wine tasting room for us. The pizza was so delicious!!!!!

We went back the next day to get more food for lunch, because the pizza was so good. We had the steak and the Kingklip meals - the portions were big - the meal was very wholesome - and utterly delicious - and very well priced. The service was fantastic!!!

We will definitely be back.

Lovely Brunch with friends. Excellent homemade bread and it is perfect to be able to choose your own filling. Staff very obliging and always smiling. After you have eaten you can go into the Winery which has breathtaking view of the mountains. A lovely picture to take back of your holiday.

Sunday breakfast in an exceptional setting. The service is outstanding, the food is delicious. They have a selection of artisan breads . Coffee is good, I can recommend the omelette, it was fluffy and delicious. This is an upmarket experience at reasonable prices . Lots of parking. Well recommended.
