We had booked several months in advance to take 14 chefs from the USA to this restaurant.
We were embarrassed, to say the least !!
The Starter was Excellent and that was where it ended.
The Springbok Loin was served cold, tasteless and very uninspiring and plates it was served on were cold.
The Cheese course was mediocre and with around 50g of cheese on the place we had one small piece of ‘Toast’ that probably made up of 3% of the dish, no other bread in sight!
Dessert was terrible. The Sphere Glacé on the plate was so frozen that no fork or knife could cut into it, everyone could not eat it !!! So the dessert was incomplète.
The meal was well below our expectations and not what we experienced on our previous visit a few months earlier.
We ordered the menu with Wine Paring and the amount of wine poured into the glasses were erratic and without any form of consistency.
Guests on three occasions received hardly anything as the bottle was virtually empty when they were served.
We had asked when booking that the chef choose a menu that highlights what SA has to offer and come out after the meal was served and talk top our guest.
He and all the chefs disappeared immediately after dessert was served, so would have we as it was nothing to be proud of.
La Motte is one of our favourite destinations and we love taking guests there for tastings and visits.
The Food does not reflect the excellence that La Motte deserves!
I write this review with a heavy heart, but we were let down
