As small town America seems to be fading away and big box retailers are taking over every aspect of our lives. This bakery forges on against the supermarkets and Costco's. of the world. Every day they pump out fresh product served by the old time counter people. I love to stop here and pick up goodies.

La Dolce is a traditional Italian bakery next door to an Italian deli on Rt 9 in Old Bridge. Fresh bread (they will slice it for you), rolls, cupcakes, cakes baked on premises, and a good selection of Italian pastries, cannolis, cheese danishes, fruit pies, cheesecakes, cookies and even a Napoleon Cake. Though slightly pricy, the cakes are usually fresh and tasty. They will custom make special occasion cakes for you, as well. Whole sheet, half sheet, or quarter sheet with your choice of filling and frosting. They are always fresh. I especially like the strawberry shortcake with fresh whipped cream! The cookies are good, especially the lemon cookies which are my favorite. They are large and cake-y but cost about $3 for a couple of cookies. Still, when they're fresh, they're the best. They sometimes run out by the end of the day, but will bake them again in the next day or two.The rainbow cookies are also very good, especially when fresh, always moist and flavorful. The Linzer tarts with raspberry and the 1/2 dipped cookies are also very good. Pastries are good (not great.) There are also spinach breads, eggplant breads, focaccia, and specials around the holidays like St. Joseph's pastries, grain pies around Easter, Gingerbread houses and Struffoli at Christmastime. I just wish they used a better quality honey. I usually buy a tray and add my own honey and 'Jimmies' (candy sprinkles) to the tray. Good in a pinch if you don't have time to make your own. You won't find a better option in the neighborhood.

I stop here to buy pasteries for my Dad. Sometimes the do not have the pasteries my dad likes, pasticioitti, but when they do my dad likes them. The pasteries overall are good for a local pastry shop

Personally, I think it's overpriced for the quality. Taste is good but the product doesn't match the price.
