Great friendly atmosphere. Drank and smoked cigars while the ladies watched a chick flick. Tracy, our lovely waitress, made sure that our beers didn't run dry. Best 6 hours spent just sitting joking and smoking. Bring back the bucket specials.

I was not sure what to expect. The Orleans is slightly off the glamorous Las Vegas strip.

It seemed to be in an area with Adult Entertainment shops, McDonalds and Burger King along Tropicana. I was thinking that perhaps that this was not our best selection.

We were greeted at the front desk by a staff member who was more than pleased to help us. She was simply incredible and made us feel welcome. As a long time resident of Las Vegas, she gave us her personal history and her relationship to the hotel. She loved the place and as an employee, she could say enough good things about her employer. When was the last time an employee actually spent a couple of minutes speaking kindly about their employer?

From there, we made our way to our room. All staff were friendly and helpful. The security team before the elevators were unfailing polite, even to those guests who seemed to be in their own world. Perhaps they lost at the slots?

The rooms were clean and soundproof - you could not hear anyone next door.

The elevators were always timely and for whatever reason, there were no wait times.

Parking is free and the pool is wonderful. It is a great place for children.

Enough said - it is a great place, great value and a place to stay when you visit Las Vegas

I have stayed at the Orleans many times in the past but the service (or lack thereof) and terrible rudeness this year was simply unacceptable. The restaurants in this place are awful and it takes so long to get seated even though there are clearly empty tables that it makes sense to eat elsewhere. They are clearly understaffed, In one instance, we were unable to see a show we'd paid for because it took so long to get served. The shower and sink fixtures in our room were corroded. We complained but nothing was done. Worst of all was the woman at check-out who was rude and uncaring and who simply didn't want to hear any complaints or attempt to make anything right. This woman also overcharged us. We had a Convention rate but she didn't apply it... but that's a whole other story. Goodbye Orleans. You have lost a repeat customer. I expect I'm not the first and I'm certain I won't be the last.

Room tip: A tip at check-in is wasted at this place - don't bother

In a review about the Gold Coast I said we used to stay there when the kids were young, well now the kids are all grown up and now we have 7 grand children and when we all go to Las Vegas this is where we stay, as they have many things to keep the kids busy from an arcade, movie theaters, bowling and a very large pool that I don't believe is any deeper than 5' at the most, plus a wading pool with a fountain, and if that isn't enough they have a spa that doubles as a lazy river. Keeping the kids in mind there are several fast food places to eat where you can get burgers, pizza, pasta, subs, ice cream and more. There are also a variety of restaurants priced $-$$$$. The casino has a multitude of slots and a good number of gaming tables, the only thing they do not have is BINGO, but you can catch their tram (free) that takes you to the strip and the to the Gold Coast if you don't want to drive yourself.

I have stayed here many times, and this time I was fortunate to have a recently renovated room. While there was not a lot that change stylistically, the furnishings and fixtures appeared new, with nice fresh carpets, and very comfortable beds.

There has also been a lot of renovations on the main floor, with common restroom getting a much needed face-lift on the casino floor. I did wonder upstairs towards the convention halls to see if there was any changes up there, but did not see any, but I did notice that the sewer clean-out right below the phones appear to have, um, "leaked". I found that gross, as there was staining on the wall.

I was not impressed with the buffet having gone up drastically in price, but the variety and quality of food did seem to fall a little. While this is a shame, it is still one of the better values for buffets left when using a players card.

There are a lot of options for the family as well, arcade, child care, movie theater, bowling alley, large pool area with kid friendly pools, and many options on the gaming floor, overall it has a lot to offer.

Room tip: If looking for special room request, just ask, they do a good job trying to accommodate.
