Lots of PROs and CONs, especially if you are accustomed to hotels in the United States.

CONs: The hotel did not reserve rooms as described in our written reservation. They attempted to provide us with rooms but the rooms had broken AC units with temps of up to 95° (35C). After five room changes and two nights without AC (for half of our party), rooms with working AC were eventually provided. The hotel charges for parking and on-site parking is scarce, about 15 spots for cars and 30 spots for scooters/motorcycles. Additional parking is available about two blocks away on a one-way street. I mention the one-way street because if my family didn't walk with me, I'd have to drive 2-3 km in heavy traffic to make my way back to the hotel's main entrance.

Location, location, location. The hotel has amazing room, restaurant, and pool views of the bay. The saltwater pool is fantastic, there is access to the sea, most staff speak enough English to get directions or take requests for food and beverages. The rooms are a decent size and the baths (for Italy) are huge. Nightlife begins about 7pm with dozens of nearby restaurants, bars, street vendors, shopping, beach access, and entertainment for all ages. Make sure to bring cash as some bars/restaurants and most street vendors do not accept credit cards.

Back to the rooms. Cleanliness is a 7/10. Mattress comfort is a 6/10. Of the five rooms we stayed in, all have a mini fridge but no cooktop or microwaves. Overall size is roomy. We did not find any on-site washing machines and the nearest laundromat was about 7 km from the hotel.

If you'd like to plan a picnic, Arancio Market is a Grocery Store located about a 15-minute walk from the hotel. Prices for meat, bread, and soda are about the same as the US, while some beer and wine are significantly cheaper (20-40% less)!

After staying two weeks in various hotels throughout Italy / Sicily, I felt Splendid Hotel La Torre was above average. For the Mondello area, it is probably one of the nicest hotels available at its price point.

Thoroughly enjoying our stay here - beautiful setting & most efficient staff - particularly Maria at reception, who couldn’t have been more helpful and gracious & Luigi who minded us well at the cocktail bar.

It's a decent hotel with a beautiful view. The staff left something to be desired. We don't speak fluent Italian so we politely asked the staff if they could call us taxi. One staff member rudely remarked "maybe you should have rented a car." Another said we got "a standard room and there's nothing we can do" when we informed them a piece of our bed was broken. Didn't realize a cheaper room meant not to expect a functioning bed? The rooms were okay. Pool gets pretty crowded.

A four star hotel at the far end of Mondello a few metres from the entrance to the Capo Gallo - nestling in the lea of this mountain capstone to the Mondello Adduara bay.
With a number of facilities available during the season an outside pool which can close early before those from northern climes are ready 6.00pm - but with good climate control and WiFi -some extra training of staff in English could assist a great deal.
Super sea views from roomsrestaurant and bar terrace - if you don't mind paying extra for a hotel experience this is the way to enjoy Mondello in high season - ( not overheating and sensational sea views)

Fabulous location, well worth paying extra for a sea view. Some rooms are a little dated, some renovated, all spotlessly clean. Most only have 2 plugs, one for the fridge and one for the TV, so pull one out to use the kettle or charge phone. Wi-fi excellent, free, no password required.
There is a very large saltwater pool & opportunity to snorkel straight into the sea. 2 additional pools opening very soon.
We stayed as part of a large group, so evening meal was a buffet with the main course served to us. Food was plentiful but very average. Not much variety. However, breakfast was extensive, including a fresh orange squeezer.

Room Tip: Pay extra for sea view definitely.
