If you're looking for a remote spot to go fishing, relax, enjoy excellent company, and satisfying food, this is the place. The drive out is spectacular across southwest Montana and a bit of Idaho. You'll see wildlife (we saw antelope, deer, all kinds of birds, including the trumpeter swans and pelicans for which this area is known), and find absolute peace and quiet. Be prepared for a road that is subject to the weather- a pick up or SUV is best, but we drove in in our car and it was fine going slowly. Weather can be unpredictable, so pack for anything, and remember there is no cell service so forget the electronics. You'll sleep in cozy beds (any cabin is not luxurious but very comfortable), and Laurel and the staff feed you very well. The Montana beef can't be beat!
We fished in Elk Lake and a couple of the others nearby with enough success to brag a bit. We will look forward to going back.More
