Tiny Westminster College in Fulton, MO, hosted Winston Churchill, accompanied by President Harry Truman, in March 1946. It was here that Churchill made his prophetic "Iron Curtain" speech about the growing power of the USSR. The museum highlights Winston Churchill's remarkable career, it is a great tribute to a giant of a man. It is chilling to be reminded how accurately he predicted the coming of WW II right at the end of "The War To End All Wars", namely WW I. And how amazing that Churchill almost alone recognized and warned of the great evil rising up in Germany, while the rest of the world wanted to negotiate with Hitler. DO NOT MISS THIS EXCELLENT MUSEUM !! Remember the saying: "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
After visiting the museum, check out St. Mary The Virgin Church sitting on top of the museum. The church comes with an interesting history: it stood in London, England, for some 800 years and was restored by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London of 1666. Damaged in WW II during the London Blitz of 1940, the remaining church was later shipped stone-by-stone to Fulton, MO, where it was reconstructed and fully restored to Wren's 1677 design.
Westminster College in Fulton is located SE of Columbia, MO, off I-70 & Hwy 54.
