Went on Father's day with my wife and Dad. I have been looking for years for a good old burger & fries. Growing up in the 60's and 70's I long for that taste. Gourmet burgers or burgers just reheated in the microwave just don't get it. Shake Shack has come the closest. It was a treat. Double cheeseburger, fries & a chocolate shake. It all was worth every cent, (take a few extras 'cause they ain't cheap).
My only hesitation in not giving a '5'....menu (I thought) said lettuce/tomato came with the burger, nothing was on it except cheese. I still enjoyed it.

Friday afternoon, after having heard rave reviews, we sauntered to the place. A long line of clients was ahead, but it went fairly quickly. Having ordered, we tried to take a seat, alas the only places available were on the patio; no wonder as it was a fine drizzle and no cover. The music was blaring, so not such a promising start. We received the burgers we ordered, and after one bite I was ready for exchange. The bun was eggy and soggy, the burger was flavorless, and the portobello mushroom greasy and burnt. My husband pain burger was o.k. but the French fries were abandoned after one tasting. We’ve been there twice- first and last time. What a let-down!

Opening Weekend and we had to stop by to try Shake Shack! We have seen in many times in NYC but they long line there always pushed us away. The line was out the door here in Cleveland, but we were inside and sitting down within 20mins. Quicker than most waits at other restaurants in the area. I kept it simple and tried the shackburger with a Gluten Free bun. This is one of the best GF buns I have had at a restaurant! It did not break apart or was dry like most. I like that the burger was smaller, so I didn't feel completely full and sick to walk. The shack sauce is yummy and the crinkle fries were really crispy. What were we missing this whole time?!? We will be back for sure!

All hail the Shake Shack! The Shackburger was possibly the best chain restaurant burger I’ve ever had in my life, and it is so simple. Potato bread bun, lettuce, tomato, patty, and sauce, and you’re on a ride to flavor-land. We also ordered the bacon cheese fries, but they were out of bacon. No matter, the fries were great! Crispy on the edges and soft in the center, the fries were perfect and the cheese sauce is very nice, and isn’t just that fake orange crap that some places pass off as cheese. My son had the Chik’n Shack sandwich, and it was very good as well. Crispy flavorful breading and an herbed mayo made the chicken sing. We all shared a chocolate shake, and it had an awesome chocolate flavor, almost like a dark chocolate, but not quite. I will be back soon. I will try other things and I’m sure they will be good. The only gripe is that they were out of some items, but it’s understandable with the onslaught of people they’ve had this opening week.
