My husband and I returned today from a weekend trip to this wonderful Bed and Breakfast and winery. Although we had a lovely older room, they have completed a wonderful new section, and though more expensive that is where I would stay the next time. Lots to do here after a generous breakfast, different every morning, served by the gracious owners. They are everywhere involved in all aspects and it shows. After a private tour, this is a stop in the tasting room. Fantastic spots for you to sit outside and enjoy the awesome view. We took a drive for the day and visisted the other tasting rooms, there are quite a few nearby. We had dinner at Bower's Inn. Wonderful place with great food. Went to Interlochen for a show, did shopping downtown. What a relaxing weekend. Can't wait to go in the winter and sit in front of the fire!!

Just got back from a wonderful overnight visit to Traverse City's Chateau Chantal July 3, 2005. This is a gorgeous place, a piece of heaven just a few hours away from Metro Detroit. It was much more than what I expected from its website. A definite MUST Visit B&B for a celebration or just to get away.
The Chateau sits amidst rolling hills of vineyards and cherry orchards about 14 Miles north of Traverse City. Everything about it just takes your breathe away...........from just soaking up the view of the East and West Grand Traverse Bay to watching the sunset from its patio as you sip wine from the vineyard's vast selection. We stayed at the Victorian inspired “The Pensee Room” ....very cozy and inviting. We purchased the anniversary package, thus a bottle of champagne with 2 flutes and gourmet chocolates, fresh flowers + our dinner gift certificate was waiting for us as we checked in. What a welcome :) The staff was friendly and very helpful, assisting us with dinner reservations at the Old Mission Tavern and Bella Galleria Art Gallery (Food was excellent!)
They offer a wine tour as well as free wine tasting for all their wine selections. PLUS, being guests of the B&B we were entitled to sample their opened bottles of wine even after the tasting room has closed for the day.
Breakfast was awesome, (waffles, homemade blueberry syrup, egg & artichoke casserole, sausage, bacon, toast, fruits, OJ and a choice of coffee, tea, hot cocoa) served by no other than the owners themselves, Bob & Nadine Begin. Bob invited us for a private cellar tour together with the other guests.
This experience is definitely unforgettable. We loved the place, it's Michigan's version of Sonoma Valley! We definitely will find another occasion to visit this paradise we discovered right here in Michigan!

Staying at Chateau Chantal is becoming an annual event. The facilities are beautiful and they are in the process of adding additional rooms. We were treated very well and the breakfast was awesome! There are several top notch restaurants in the area as well as in Traverse city. You are also only a short drive from many of the Michigan wineries in the Grand Traverse and Lelenau area. Watching the sunset on the patio facing West Bay is a sight to behold. Team that up with Wine and Jazz (on Thursdays during the summer) and it makes for a relaxing and romantic visit.
