We stayed in the "Cottages at Stoney Creek" and have to say it was lovely! The room was perfect with lots of nice, personal touches... check in seamless, and the lady that made our breakfast was a delight. We will definitely stay there again!

We were going to Des Moines to attend a few events & decided that we would head down a night early so the kids could play in a pool & not have to get up so early in the morning. On the way down I searched our options & found the Stoney Creek Hotel. The reviews were pretty good & the rooms looked nice so we decided to stay somewhere new & give it a try.

I was really pleasantly surprised. When we walked into the hotel it was very pleasant smelling, almost as if someone had been making cookies or something yummy. Our room had a set of bunkbeds for the kids, a fold out couch and a huge bed in it. The bed & pillows were really comfy, however the bunkbeds were a bit squeaky as the kids moved around (that got a bit annoying at 6 AM). It was all decorated like we were staying in a lodge in the woods. Everything was really clean and looked fairly new.

The pool area was nice, clean and there were pleanty of towels. The hot tub area was away from the main pool and with the "rocks" you could not see the pool from the hot tub unless you stood up. The kids loved that the pool is both inside & outside! The pool area is also decorated in the cabin theme. There were a few areas that needed to be touched up painting wise in the pool area but overall was nice, there was even a fireplace in the pool room.

There is (or was) a gameroom but I didn't see anything other than tables in there....perhaps at one time they had games, but none when we were there.

Breakfast was pretty normal for a hotel waffles, eggs, biscuits & gravy, muffins, bagels, toast, yogurt a small assortment of cereal and juice/milk/coffee. Everything was fully stocked when we visited the breakfast area.

While our room was a bit on the pricey side the kids & I loved it. The theme of the hotel really did make it feel like it was a fun little get away. I would definitely stay here again if I were in the area.

Nice room on 3rd floor, starting to need a little maintenance, but all was good. Place was really quiet considering there was a couple conferences going on. Breakfast is the normal motel stuff and was not too bad.

My husband and I just stayed in a cottage theme suite with whirlpool for a quick anniversary evening. The room was fabulously themed and smelled amazing. It was clean and cozy, the staff was excellent, and the free breakfast was great (as was the lady in charge of it, who cooked made to order omelettes and waffles). We could not have asked for a better stay! Definitely worth a stay. Thank you, Stoney Creek Staff, we will be returning for sure!

Room tip: The cottage section is worth the upgrade. Very quiet and comfortable.

You will just love this hotel, they have a great décor in the wilderness setting, nice pool and whirlpool, clean rooms and especially clean bathrooms. Their breakfast is very good, hot and all of it is fresh. Worth it!!

Room tip: I think all rooms are very nice, but they have some extra special larger rooms to accommodate a family!
