The only thing wrong with my trip to the museum was that we should have booked a second day, so many amazing works of art to see. I would also not recommend bringing a 9 year old. The staff were very nice as well.
I would recommend an audio tour as well, you will get much more out of the exhibits.
This was my first time being here in a few years but it was just as elegant as I remembered. It’s very peaceful and quiet throughout all of the exhibits. I really enjoyed the tiny rooms and the photography. Try buying a bundled ticket with the sky deck!
This is a magnificent museum. We had purchased tickets in advance, but this was unnecessary as there wasn't much of a line on the Saturday afternoon we visited. I'd suggest wearing very comfortable shoes, and scheduling a good amount of time -- there is much worth seeing. We particularly enjoyed the paperweight collection and the stock exchange room in addition to all of the wonderful paintings.
We were only able to spend 5 hours and could have spent 10. So many major pieces of original masterpieces to see covering the current to hundreds of years old. Picasso, Toulouse, Matisse and many others. Artifacts from Greece, Rome, and Egypt. We never made it to the Asian, Native American and Architectural wings.
Always go there when in town, and never seem to have enough time! One of the best museums in the US with collections that interest all different visitors. We particularly like the Chicago architecture displays this time. Staff and volunteers are excellent to help, and are everywhere. Just wish there was some type of shuttle service there from the hotel areas.
